It makes absolutely no sense at all. For all of you who think cigarettes don't "alter," they do. How about elevated pulse, increased sensitivity of the nervous system, elevated blood pressure and constriction of the vascular system? These reactions cause the light-handedness, (dizziness) and "rush" that smokers get from lighting up. (Ask me - I smoked for 30 years). Pot on the other hand aids those with emphysema by opening the bronchial tubes. It is a "relaxant" and calms the nerves. Why is it illegal? The gov't makes more cash by keeping it that way. Can you say SCAM? I especially love the states that have "decriminalized" pot. There you only get civil offenses and are charged anywhere from $100 - $400.00 just for being mellow. However, you can drink till you puke, beat the crap out of your wife and kill people driving drunk and it's OK 'cause that's legal. Please do your homework before implying that marijuana is addictive - it is NOT. Prohibition didn 't work and neither does the War on Drugs. What a joke...

Why isn't cocaine legal instead of Coffee?
The answer to both questions is that one substance is subsantially more dangerous to the body than the other.
Would you rather have a substance that will damage you in one way or two? Would you rather have a drug that ruins your lungs, or one that ruins your lungs, your short term memory and your reaction time all at once?
It is best not to put any hazardous substances in your body at all, but as far as your question is concerned cigarettes are obviously less harmful and less of a danger to society.

Tobacco crops are a powerful industry, if they would just take the poisons out of cigarettes people would be much better off. But those poisons like nicotene keep people hooked. It's all come out in recent years that the tobacco companies know all of this. Congress just doesn't care, it's freedom, let people smoke outside.

They should be, but cigarrettes don't contain mind-altering substances (typically). However, if a person uses either product, they can be putting others in danger, e.g., if a person drives while under the influence of pot, they could cause an accident and kill someone; likewise, cigarrette smokers give off secondhand smoke. Neither is worse than the other.

I was told once of a study performed by a group of scientists in America, in which they were given three substances and asked to evaluate each of them as if they were newly discovered, and to test if they were suitable products for legal sale. They were also asked to disregard any personal opinions that they had, and to start as if they had never heard of the substances in question. They eventually passed marijuana as fit for public consumption, but recommended against sale of both tobacco and alcohol!

The tobacco companies make more money with cigarettes because they are addictive and marijuana is not.

Because marjiuana is a narcotic. If that was the case, why not make cigars illegal? Also, weed is more addicting and if abused, can cause more trouble than 1 cigarette can. And plus, I need my ciggys.

Your asking the wrong source.....Ask your Senator, congressmen and all politicians that get kick-backs from the Tobacco Industry. Don't just sit there...Start asking. I am positive that you will get no answers. Sorry

Sincerely,
Jerry
