My husband like loves his care and he has a body kit on it and rims and new tires and flip down screens and flip out screen and a ps2slim in the flove compartment....why do men get into fixing up their cars so much? I know it's a hobby and it makes your car look cool, but isnt it a waste of your money for too much extra stuff?

It's a great hobby for guys to have! Some women like their make up, shoes and clothes.....men are the same way, with cars.
The personal touches they add or the power and performance they tweak make them proud. Men are just like that.
Women can be quite vain and spend money frivilously on themselves, while men can spend tons of money on fixing their cars up. It's somewhat of a status thing, plus, it's just a rush to drive down the road in something they are proud of (and spent a lot of money on)...like if a woman shows off her new fake breasts.....

Well, I don't have the money to pimp my car. I loaded in a killer audio system straight out of my college loan and now i majorly regret it cause it got jacked about a week ago. I wasn't even into cars for most of my life, I'd actually make fun of my bro's for being so into cars, but now I literally spend hours just looking at what I can do to my 91 Ecipse. Someday... someday...
I just need more cash. I also need to learn how to do my own body work so I can save money but I live at an apt. with no garages. But anyways, for me, women always come before my car despite all my wild dreams.

I love my car because it is rewarding to add performance. You do some work and feel it everytime you drive. Also, for looks, it's nice to drive something that looks different from the other cars of the same make. It's like women that paint their nails. They dont have to do it, but it looks nice and has a personal touch. Some people go for car audio/video which is nice when you want to attend a concert at 120 decibels on the way to work. who needs coffee?

It is truly our only escape from the women in our lives. Cars, golf, football, grilling, going to the bathroom (library). It's all a way to get away from the ones we love.

Some guys see their cars as extensions of themselves and personalizing it is a way for them to further that.As long as he doesn't put the car before you don't worry about it.

i guess it runs in our blood system stereos rims, sub woofers, simple as you like purses, shoes, clothing, accessories we dress up our cars not to get attention but I like to be unique from the other cars even if its the same one there is something different about it though.

Wouldn't it be nice if that energy was in the form of a second job or college or anything legal that would generate cash....
Or better yet... wouldn't it be nice if all that energy was directed to you and your marriage.... He needs to get his priorities straightened out.
