Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Here are a few options:

1. Buy gym memberships for both of you and tell him how much it would mean to you if he would go with you and get in shape so that you will both have a chance at a longer, healthier life.

2. Show him aritcles and evidence on health risks for those who are over weight. Even if he is a bit chubby, you do not want him to become obese and face these health risks.

3. Challenge him to lose x pounds per month until he reaches his ideal weight. If he accomplishes his goal each month, he gets a menaingful reward. If not, he must pay reasonable consequences (ie. spoil you for the weekend, complete a home project he has been putting off...)

4. Alter your diets to healthier cooking (less fried foods and heavy starches) and smaller portions.

5. Insist that he take a nice long walk with you every morning or every night.
Good luck!

My hubby is not to overweight just a beer belly. So we booked a trip to Jamaica and I told him hey you want that big belly in all your Jamaica pictures? He said Wow I didn't realize it's that big...next thing I know he is on the treadmill and watching what he eats.

Think of something that he would really like to do...perhaps a trip like we are doing or something else. Once you plan it say your want to get in shape and do it together. If your eating junk and not working out it will not really motivate him to do the same. So do it together as a couple get in shape. That should be motivation.

Take up a hobby together. Join a local gym and go together. Run together. Walk together. Swim together. Join a local adult sports league if they exist in your area. Try to fix healthier food in the home. Don't buy a lot of soda or junk food to have around the house. Try to get him to adopt a more active lifestyle. Make him conscious of his health. But the most important thing to do is to *tell him* that you are concerned with his weight. Offer to participate in whatever you force/convince him to.

By the way, withholding sex is a *terrible* idea.

I went through the same situation with my boyfriend. First of all, does he think he needs to? If he knows he needs to lose weight... help him. Suggest walking at night together, following a diet plan - get rid of the junk food in the house. You could also do things like play tennis or rent bikes on a bike trail (things that sometimes don't make you think of losing weight). We got a dog - that forced us to walk :)
If he doesn't know - you could subtley hint about friend's whose husbands have trimmed down - or tell him that you are planning to learn how to cook healthier - or that YOU want to start walking because you want to be healthier... and maybe he will want to go with you!

First you need to find out what is likes or is interested in. Is he a health nut? Does he peek at nice ladies? Does he envy fit bodies? Sex? etc... Dieting alone never works, you have to throw in some work out, even just a little walk. for health nut or one who value life, give him the stats on over weight folks to scare him off on bad health effect of over weight. He like to peek at girls, take him to health club. Working out front of nice looking ladies tend to give some motivation. when you look at nice body men does he get jealous? That could be a motivation factor to getting to work out. Or even sex is a work out depending on how long he can go and way he works. I am a couch potato, who work out with kids (I play with them for about 15 min a day, lifting them with my arms, and legs, carrying them and chasing them) and finish off with my night work out in bed. Over the weekends, I take the family out to park to do some long walking. I do have a bit of belly but my vital seems to be in good condition.
