Nobody has any personal information on Jesus, all there is is anecdotal hearsay and it's probably made up in it's entirety...so as nobody can have any personal idea of Jesus any talk of personal relationships is all lies ...as for asking him into your heart what does that mean...ask Santa Claus into your heart!!! it's mawkish nonsense and melodrama and it makes me feel quite sick!
Ask My Little Pony into your heart!!!... Eew!

Once the Divine initiates a relationship, then there is no need for faith and belief in the spiritual, it becomes knowledge. The difficulty in knowing is that the relationship is intensely personal and not shared or witnessed by another person. Our society is trapped in evidence based philosophies in a way that a person's relationship with the Divine cannot be verified, and hence, many people dismiss Divine engagements because such personal experiences do not fit the truth criteria of the evidence based philosophies (notably science). The person Divinely engaged can only present what has been revealed, in much the same way as an explorer brings back pictures and artifacts of trips into the inaccessible regions of the globe. The faith becomes inverted: The explorer no longer requires faith concerning God, but has to have faith in the people viewing the exhibits garnered from the Divine relationship -- that those who have not seen will believe the story. Not every person will accept the exhibits because indoctrination into evidence based philosophies prohibits declarations of truth in unverifiable experiences. It is an interesting paradox.

The scriptures imply over and over again that it is very important to have and maintain a close relationship with Jesus, ie. the epistles of Paul especially urge the reader to maintain such a relationship. And, Romans 10:9-10 specifically talks about believing in Jesus "in your heart" as a mandatory element of salvation. Rev 3:20 talks about asking Jesus into your heart once you hear Him knocking on it.

It's just a kind of guide as to how to ask Jesus to come live with you. Someone just thought it would be a good way to get the point accross.
It's not like he WON'T be with you if you don't use those words! lol
In my opinion, asking Jesus to have a personal relationship with you is like saying "Hey, you were a good person, the son of God, but first and foremost, a good person! I wanna be like you, can you teach me how?"
That's what I said when I was "baptised". (lol, in the bathtub, by my mom..then "formally" when I was 7)

It is simply a way of conveying a way of being. There is a huge difference to simply believe in Jesus of Nazareth and what he taught----and really having a personal relationship with the living God! People can read the bible and attend Church weekly and STILL not have a personal relationship with the Holy Trinity.
There are lots of things that do not appear in Scripture that we use to talk about things in life. Scripture was written 2000 years ago and we are still learning about human beings, nature, psychology, science and the like....

it's easier for peeps to understand and some if u ask r u saved will say yes but if you explain that it's not about religon but a relationship with Jesus Christ they get it.
I was a counselor at church camp a few years ago and I listened to how others talked to the teens and they would ask them r u saved r u born again and I watched the teens faces most said yes although by looking at them u could tell they were unsure.
What I asked them was if u died tonight do u know where u will spend eternity and they were all honest about that.
we have to ask things to get the point across but in ways that peeps understand.

It's true that the Bible doesn't use those "exact" words...but it is "demonstrated" throughout the entire New Testament. Read, for example, John 14:21 which says, "He that hath(has) my commandments (words), and keepeth them, he it is that loveth (loves) me: and he that loveth me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him (love that person that keeps His word), and will MANIFEST MYSELF TO HIM". I've discovered years ago, that those who ridicule the Bible most are those who have never actually even read it for themselves. How could Christ be any clearer than this: "I WILL MANIFEST MYSELF TO HIM" That, my friend, is a VERY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP, because Christ literally manifests Himself to the Believer by His Holy Spirit; and you can't get more personal than that. I KNOW this to be true, because He has manifest Himself to ME...AND THEREFORE "KNOW" HIM personally. If I was to say that I DON'T know Him, I would be a liar. But I DO KNOW Him. And He will be indwelling me throughout all eternity.

Just because something is not in scripture does not mean it is valueless. In fact, when individuals find other sources than scripture to have faith in God, it is more pure. The reason this si so, is we are suppose to believe on faith alone, not to depend on anything which may be considered "proof". The scriptures are at best the words of good men who tried to write down for their children, grandchildren, decendants, and others what their experiances were with God, and then with God as the Son, Jesus the Christ. Jesus did not write anything down, nor did he attempt to institute a "church" while He was here. It was man who did this. Christians, like any other religious group. enjoy gathering together to worship the Lord. Eventually, these gatherings became the churches. There is so many different versions due to the fact Jesus did not create a church while here. Otherwise all christians would be of the same church as Jesus would have spoke of how he wished His church to be. Jesus came down to set the record straight and to take on the sins of the physical world so we have a path home. The scriptures are not "proof" of God, just the words of Godly men who believe and who had a personal experiance they wished to share with others. Those who wrote of Jesus did so at least seventy years after his death and resurrection, so memories tend to be a bit dimb. The scriptures should be taken as a guidline, and always remember they have been translated many times over the years and tampered with by rulers and the Cathlic chuch. Therefor it is up to each individual to listen to his/her heart and soul to find the spirituality and establish a relationship with God. Through His Spirit you can learn the truth, but you must be willing to open your mind, heart, and soul, and listen to what the Spirit says to you. A closed mind closed the heart and soul as well and God's voice through his Spirit will not be heard, and therefor it is easy to say He does not exist. Many good people have chosen to not believe in God. This does not make them bad people. My own father is agnostic, once was athiest. He is a good man. Each must follow their own journey and we should not judge them, that is God's perogitive, not ours. We are on our own journey here and nobody should interfer with anothers or try to force another.
Having a close personal relationship and asking Jesus into your heart is simply some individuals way of expressing how to begin having a relationship is one wishes one. That is all. It is as simple as that. Words do not have to be from the bible in order to have power or importance in spirituality, in fact those which are not from the mouths of others is the most powerful on an individual basis. My spirituality is my core, my rock, my personal life choice. It is unshakable, I do not feel any need to explain or justify. It just is and I am Ok with that. I am Ok with those who do not have what I have. I would like others to feel as sure as I do, to feel the wonderfulness of the Spirit moving inside me, but that is not up to me or to any but each individual. God wants each of us to come to Him on his/her own, not due to force, trickery, or deciet. What good is spiritual believe which is forced? It would be as nothing and a small wind could push it away, carry it far off never to return. What would God find of value in that type of faith? Nothing. It is important for others to understand not to force themselves and their own personal beliefs or relationship with God as he/she understands him. God is not happy with those who do so. Blessed Be.

Mainly because both of those phrases denote "being saved" or "born again." If someone were to ask, "Are you saved?" What would you say? So the explanations of "being saved" and "being born again" are used in phrases, as those you typed, in order to say the same things but with clarification. To be born again. The explanation of being born again in spirit is more easily understood by people if it is put into context as "coming into your heart." Usually those terms are used for children or adults who haven't read any scripture, had any "Sunday School" training, or have not heard any Words of God taught or preached.
As when Jesus was talking to Nicodemus, who wanted to know how he could enter the Kingdom of God, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)
John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
John 3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
John 3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you [of] heavenly things?
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven.
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world not to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
John 3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
Having a relationship with Jesus Christ is a very personal act and journey. He is the Lord of your life---not just a vapor or something that is completely supernatural. Jesus is our Brother, Our Heavenly Father's Son---and we are God's children, as well, all in the family of God. Wouldn't you want to have a personal relationship with your family?
