I'm not sure about the best cat litter box, but what kind of litter are you using? I'm assuming it's a form of clay. Try using a corn base, such as World's best cat litter or the newspaper base, such as Yesterday's news. Because these litters don't get trapped between your cats paw, it will not spread everywhere around the house. However, if you are prepared to change the litter format, make sure you do like if you were changing food. You have to slowly mix it in so the cat gets used to the newer one, cats are very finicky, but i'm sure you already knew that one.

It doesn't really matter what box or litter you are using. It will get tracked around the house no matter what. BUT, to reduce the amount tracked put some indoor- outdoor carpeting or one of the mats that you can purchase under the box and out about one foot from any exit from the box. The litter stuck to kittys feet should get knocked off before it gets to the rest of the house. (P.S.-- Dont use regular carpet. Kitty might get the wrong idea!!!)

i don't know about litter boxes, but you can buy little mats to put around the box so that your cat can wipe its paws after using the box. hope it helps!

they also make a great little box.. and it is literally a box... it is the shape of a small waste basket and it has a flat lid covering the top with a hole for kitty to climb in and out of to do his business.. i JUST bought one and wow.. everything is staying in!

just cover your whole floor with cat litter - that way the cat can never miss, or track it anywhere. try that scooper stuff - you can just pick up the lumps as you step on them.
Cheers!
