Yes, this is well documented. Christianity is sort of like an old K-Tel record album... "Mythology's Greatest Hits!"
It's truly amazing to me that so many people don't know, and don't want to know... this simple fact.

yes and no. Christianity is a continuation of Judaism. As Jesus was a Jew and Christianity followed his teachings that were added and some changed from Judaism that could be true but as a spin off from other religions that is hard to say as many similarities are also about human nature and trying to be a better world citizen. This has been a goal of all religions in a way since the beginning of time. But that does not mean they are ideas nicked as much as ideas in common. Besides isn't it hard to prove wiser cultures as that is just an opinion of their culture? Others may not see them as wiser but more backwards or uneducated.

Well it certainly exist, but the question is, is it true. In order to answer that question you have to ask others, such as:
1. Is the Bible accurate historically? What do you base your answer on?
2. Was Jesus an historical person? How did you come to your conclusion? Was Plato, Shake sphere?
3. Does your world allow for supernatural? Are you reading your philosophy into the Bible before you give it a chance?
4. Have you actually read the Bible from beginning to end?
5. If you do not accept the Bible after having answered the above question, what do you base your beliefs on? Anything other than your own opinion from your own mind? Why is that more reliable and trustworthy than the Bible? If you make God into what you want God to be, haven't you just created God? You must be God!

Not sure I follow the logic. That is like saying does the IPod really exists given it was nicked off the TV, walk-man and Rio volt. Just because it isn't very original doesn't mean it disappears in a puff of logic. Yeah Christianity exists.
The fact that Christianity shares characteristics with other religions doesn't necessarily disparage its validity. To stay alive it keeps adapting itself. Don't tell that to the Creationist though. They would be appalled that their faith...evolved.
In attempts to squash the more popular pagan religions early Christians began inventing their own holidays which coincided with those of the popular former celebrations. The pagan tradition of celebrating the Winter solstice has lost its meaning and has now become Christmas. Funny thing is everyone still has a pagan tree in their window as they exclaim "Jesus is the reason for the season."
Wiser cultures? I don't know about that. They're mostly dead, Christianity isn't. ???
I don't know. I think Christ existed. Son of God? I like to think he as a revolutionary rable rouser with a good message. A hippie hated by those in power cause he challenged authority. Over the years people told the stories and embellished his deeds. You know like the old gas station attendant would tell stories about the local town hero. "I heard he was ten feet tall. Head of gold, feet of clay and a middle made of cannon balls. Eyes of steel he had and he could kill with a word."

Christianity is real. Christians make it up, Jesus is our Lord and Savior. It isn't "just a bunch of ideas nicked from older wiser cultures". Many cultures incorporate MANY different ideas and that is when we get those side religions that you have never even heard of!
Check out the Bible and I guarentee you will feel differently.

I SAY YOU ARE WRONG!!!! VERY, VERY WRONG!!!!!! Christianity is actually as pure as it gets... Methodists, mormons, along with others nick their ideas off of other religions.. But the thing is that Christianity is not a religion... A religion is a man-made tradition and custom... Christianity is a beleif.... It's a faith.. God Bless You man.. Walk with God and try not to be swayed to and fro by the ideas of the world... THe bible says "Don't be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

That's why Constantine called it the Universal religion.
It incorporated every religion that existed in the Roman Empire at the time And made them into a single universal, pagan religion.

Except the "wiser" part. The older cultures were trying to explain various phenomena that they couldn't explain with science.

What kind of experience have you had with Christianity? If you have had any type of true Christianity (meaning not catholicism and mormonism and such), and had God working in your life you wouldn't have to ask this question. This just shows you have no experience, or else a bad one.
