Because he's just a human being, like everyone else.
He just seems to forget that sometimes.

Well, he is the lead singer of U 2. Nothing more and nothing less.
Having met him several times in person, I think that he is sincere and believes that he can help to make the world a better place.
But I do wonder if he is doing the right thing and in the right way. He does not have any training in politics, history, geography or agriculture, and often he sees things rather simplistic. That might sound good to evenly unskilled masses of pop music fans, but it will not do much good in practical terms and not really impress the movers and shakers of international politics and business.
If we really want to change the world and end hunger and poverty in the so-called "Third World", we need a lot more effort than the initiative of a few millionaire pop stars. We all - politicians, stars, media and common people alike - need to get together with the will to change things. Only then things will really improve.

Because I couldn't give a sh*t about Bono. I don't know why he's trying to be this hero. I suppose it's nice that he's trying to do *something*, unlike most celebrities, but I honestly just ignore Bono. And I wonder if he actually gives up any of his money for anything. Giving taxes to charity isn't a 'nice' thing. So I take back what I said about supposing he's nice. I hate Bono.

Why are you so down on Bono? Are you jealous or ashamed of the fact that you have not done as much to better the world? He does nothing to prove that he's doing what he does for personal gain. Lay of, please! We don't have enough people helping others, instead, we have more people, who are critical even of those who are trying to do the best that they can. And, for the record, there is only one Savior! And His name is Jesus Christ!

One person can hardly end the poverty of the world, but can help. I do not think the third world, especially Africa that he continues to support, can get out of poverty easily without a big effort within the country by itself.
It's like how can a poor person get out of poverty? It is hard work and needs years of saving and invest money. I do not see that happening in Africa - not yet. Africa still depend on the aid from outside, a temporary relief. Unfortunately, the news come out of Africa still about war, genocide, disease, famine, attrocities... not some sort of economic revolution or evolution experienced by some Asian countries/places (South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and now China).

I think that there should be more people like him around, what have you done lately for your fellow man? Bono has created a huge organization, it's not about Bono, it's about helping people who get no help otherwise.

The world is still suffering. Instead of giving them donations of money or what not, try coming up with a solution to all their problems. Having a charity concert that many people won't go to or even watch on tv does nothing.

YOU seem to think the solution lies in attacking the character of somebody who is trying to use his influence to help others.
I invite you to redistribute your energy and figure out a way to use your power, your resources, and your self to effect changes that help build people up instead of tearing people down.
In other words, why don't you try using your intelligence for beneficial purposes instead displaying such arrogance and insolence toward others who are trying to do good in the world?

He's free to do what he wants to with his time, skills and money. I'd like to see Hugh Heffner and Bill Gates do half of what Bono does to help people rather than themselves.

He never said he's a Savior. He's just trying to help the world out, which is something that we all should be doing.
