they hurt a little bit, take an ibprofen before each visit, and when they are working, close your eyes and breath, it'll help. i have them on now. trust me. thats what i do and it doesnt hurt nearly as bad as it did during my first visit.

I got mine put on almost 10 months ago. It did kind of hurt initially, and getting used to them hurt cuz they cut up my mouth. After a while though you barely notice them, until you go in to get them tightened... that can hurt. Just take a couple of Advil before you go in, and it won't be as bad. Good luck!

Yes for four years, I had a major overbite, they had to pull all my wisdom teeth before they erupted as well as two upper bicuspids. The hurt for about a week after each adjustment, but make sure you keep them clean or you might get caries or gum infections.

I had them. They hurt initialy when I got them. After that, they hurt when I got them tightened. You can buy dental wax in drug stores that you can put on the metal itself if it irritates the inside of your mouth in a certain spot. Take advil before you have them tightened (the day of your appt) that way it isnt so bad!

Yes I have. I'm on the retainer stage now.
They don't really hurt when they're putting it on, but afterwards, it hurts for several days and you can't eat anything except for mush. It's really horrible, but you can stand it. If you have to wear those elastic things, those hurt for several days too.

Yeah I got them when I was 9 years old. My mouth was sore for about a week but it wasn't painful. If a 9 year old little girl can do it, so can you!!!
