Next summer I won't have a job because I will be on my college break. I thought it would be fun to work on a cruise ship for the 3 months I'm out. Anyone know anything about this?

I have been on amny cruises and have talked with the staff. Most times they say they most sign a contract for a 9 or 10 month period, during which they work 7 days a week and about 12 hours a day. My bet is this is NOT what you are looking for.

However, if you want to investigate, try this web site:

I'm not sure if you can work for three months and that's it. You'd have to check with the cruise lines, I guess. The people that work on the ship are generally on there for at least a year straight.

My sister's boyfriend does that, except the jobs are in too high demand to only work for the summers. He signs on for a year at a time like all the other workers. After he had made the money he wishes he will then go back to school.

Im not sure but I don't think you can. People on cruise ships travel all over the world and travel from ship to ship. I am pretty sure it is a full time job.

Usually the only 3 month contracts are for seasonal youth staff (looking after the kids onboard). It would not be financially worth it to the cruiseline to hire for 3 months as usually the minimum contract lenth is 6 months

I worked for Carnival for quite a few years. that's staggering, lots of relaxing ... yet very puzzling artwork. Your 'day' is oftentimes 12 hours long. for looking a job, do no longer pass to those "we are going to discover you a job (wink, wink)" web pages... pass directly to the internet internet site for each cruise line and seem for a link for "jobs" or "employment".

i cant imagine you would need much of a background to change beds or serve food or clean toilets or swab the deck or hand out towels or do dishes. by all means go for it.
