I cant directly answer your question, but I know exactly where you are coming from.
Koreans grow up with parents expecting the best for/from them. I dont want to stereotype or catergorise, but Koreans follow a lot of trends, and dont value individuality very highly therefore, if something that a sucessful Korean is doing is better then they will use that as an excuse, instead of recognising other benefits other countries have to give.
Koreans are proud of their country, and what they have been through, and how much they have suffered to get to where they are today. This is constantly stipulated in everyday conversations.
It's not rare for parents to explain to young children the downfalls Japan caused Korea, and this is yet again emphasised at school.
Also how Korea has a unique language etc etc, im sure you have heard all this before... it's not a bad thing for them to be proud.
I prefer listening to them talk about how much they love Korea, than about pointing out all my bad points (another common Korean 'conversation' habit).

patriotism. much like here, anyone bad mouths America and everyone gets all riled up and tells you to get the fu*ck out and so forth. koreans do not believe they are superior but strive to be. people in korea, especially the parents, stress and instill that their kids be the best they can be, do well in education, get a great job and make lots of money when you grow up. it's not all that different from here but in korea, it actually means something to them. here you can be homeless one minute and a millionaire the next. here it's about luck, persistance, and who you know. there it is to be the best in whatever you do. it may be that koreans are superior students or excellent workers or whatever, they don't take things for granted like people here in the states do. they see a progressive chain from point A to point B and strive for that with little or no distraction.
Porgie is a f*g and deserves to have wet dreams of a slavery inducing country like South Africa. I see you're a world cup loser and judge countries by how they advance in that right? where was south africa? suck your moms dick and thank her she bore a pu*ssy whipped b*itch like you into this world.
And Sandy, yes, we are better looking than of the other asian countries. I agree totally.

Wow. I keep looking at porgie's posts on other things and I keep getting ticked off. porgie should keep his south african thoughts to himself. Especially because they're mostly WRONG. Anyways
Korea has a lot of nationalism. After being colonized by Japan at one point, the culture was immensely suppressed. Naturally, the period of suppression contributed to a major boom in nationalism after the colonization, mostly parents educating kids in such way. Kids are taught to be proud of their country, emphasis on the stronger points of Korea. Even kids living in the U.S.
I think you'll find Koreans modest in every other aspect... I hope. Yes, Porgie, it's a small country, but one that has positive aspects that I think you're missing out on.

It's just the Korean way, it's nothing to get worked up about. First they were beat down by the Japanese, then they had a terrible civil war. So now that the place is doing quite well, they want to let everyone know.

It relies upon lots on the denomination. in most circumstances, for all of us and not in any respect in simple terms Christians, modesty can propose both being humble or averting drawing unnecessary interest, fantastically sexual interest. i visit assume that by using "modesty" you propose "averting drawing sexual interest". Christian have diverse recommendations of a thanks to attempt this. many times this type of modesty is enforced a lot extra strictly on women. My father as a baby become area of a subgroup of Pentecostals that some people call Spanish legalistic Pentecostals. females at the on the spot are not allowed to reduce their hair above shoulder length or form it in an truly noticable way. they don't seem allowed to placed on makeup, pants, skirts that are shorter than ankle length, earrings or extreme heels. they don't seem even allowed to shave. also they're anticipated to stay away from something else that would provide the arrival of self-importance. case in factor, they might get in complication for donning a purple satin gown, even if it covers their total body, because it will be seen as an attempt at "sexiness", even although purple satin isn't between the prohibited issues. different Christian denominations at the on the spot are not truly so strict, of coarse, yet there are huge transformations from one sect to a unique.

You have to ask them sometime..."superior to what?"
And what's up with Korea number one? Number one what?
I think the answer to your question boils down to "little country syndrome" and maybe "little people syndrome"?
I've been here too long. So glad they got knocked out the World Cup so early. Switzerland really pressed the MUTE button on them, hey?
Porgie go sleep now and dream of beautiful South Africa....Porgie, out!

They are proud of their country and probably miss it. They might also think that we Americans are the same way and get defensive.
