I have to flick it on 7 or 8 times before it will stay on around 20 minutes or so. Is this an easy to remedy problem that won't cost much to repair, or do I have to have a costly part to fix this problem?

Call the manufacturer and I would tell the person that bought it for you as nicely as possible and ask them if they could get you the reciept. I am sure they wouldn't give u a tv hoping it didn't work. So don't be afraid to tell them.

call directory information and ask for a toll free no. for magnavox. have your serial and model numbers at hand. this should be located on the back most likely on the set. call the company and tell them your problem. they should be able to help you somehow. magnavox may be made by another company, if so the primary manufacturer name should also be on the set.
