Carol M. That is a fascinating argument. Thanks for the thought provoking answer.

Everyone please read Levi's response. This is what happens when you get you information from a charlatan like Kent Hovind. He says that a carbon dated fossil can show that it is 12,000 or 53,000,000 years old. Carbon dating is only good up until about 50,000 years. Hovind is not a scientist by any means. Go to school Levi.

As a Christian, I am always amazed at the young Earth creationists.....it just simply makes me shake my head. I have yet to hear one logical, rational, scientific, peer reviewed article that gives any clear insight into this....

Oh, BTW---answeringgenesis is just a bunch of junk science....

A strong argument is the lack of relaibility on Carbon Dating. It's only accurate for a certain number of years. You can take the same stone and carbon dating will show it to be 12,000 years old and when you date it again it'll be 53,000,000 years old.

Just because somet species of plant or animal has never been found doesn't mean it's necessarily "new"

Check out Kent Hovind, otherwise known as Dr. Dino at drdino.com You can download his podcasts for free if you really want an educated view on creationism and the aspect of a young earth. He has some very strong arguments in the case for and regularly travels the globes and debates with leaders in the fields of evolution

There are two issues here, the best argument I've heard for a young earth is that God didn't create Adam and eve as babies, so why would he create the earth as an immature (i.e. Baby) planet. So the idea would be that although the earth might seem Millions or billions of years old, it was created as a mature planet just like the rest of creation was created as mature things.

For the organism question, that comes down to the difference between Micro-evolution and Macro-Evolution. Micro evolution is the slight divergence between species through natural selection which gives rise to the appearance of seemingly new but similar species over time.

Macro evolution is the idea that all species came from the same original single cell life forms. For this to happen, major and sudden mutations would have had to occur at some point.

Few people dispute the occurance of Microeveolution.

1- How many years have people been breeding dogs and cats as pets in different cultures? Thousands of years. How many significant changes have occured in those species? None The theory of evolution requires some kind of significant change over that period of time. All changes have been equivalent to race changes, because a cat has still been a cat, and a dog has still been a dog.
2- There have been discoveries of new organisms, but, they have come with discoveries of new lands, and have not been observed to come from other species
3- The mule. Take a donkey, mix it with a horse, get a dead end. A new species with an inability to reproduce, and that has not changed for thousands of years either. (the use of donkeys and horses goes back thousands of years)
4-As for the young earth, I do not have any info on that, I am only a chemist. I cannot remark on geology and astronomy

I'll give you one, it's impossible to measure the earths age using carbon dating, since it only measures to about 70, 000 years. We don't have anything strong enough to measure something millions of years old. Scientists won't tell you this, and they just make up a bunch a stuff that's all false. Plus, the rock formations used to date the earth are all mixed up in the Grand Canyon. So, you can't use that idea either. There are way more evidences to support the young earth idea rather than the old.
I could keep going, but I don't want to be here all day.

Actually there is a good deal of evidence to support the young earth theory. I believe one website is www.answersingenesis.com, but i'm not for sure.
Of course, they wouldn't teach it in school, even if they only taught it as a "theory", because it goes against separation of church and state. Wouldn't expect anything less from the people who won't let us say the pledge anymore...

Ah, yeah, sorry man. There's no evidence to support the above contention. But you can believe whatever you'd like if it makes you feel any better.
