I'm planning a trip to Ireland and want to know if I could do both cities in two days or if we should stop/stay in both cities. Also, we planned on seeing the Burren, going to Doolin and Dublin.
Any other recommendations?
Also, any suggestions on places to stay. We won't be going until next May.

Distance from Ennis to Ballyvaughn is roughly 50 km. See map:

If you want to enjoy the area, I recommend you plan for 2 days. Ennis is a lovely town with a nice town centre. You can easily spend half day there, even a bit more. The drive towards the Cliffs of Moher area takes about 1 to 1.5 hr. You can include short stops at Ennistymon, Lahinch and Liscannor Bay. Spanish Point is worth a visit (stunning views) if the weather allows. Mandatory stop at Doolin. ... And you haven't even started to explore the Burren...

From Doolin, drive the costal road to Ballyvaughn (stunning). Drive back though Lisdonvarna, get lost in the Burren amazing narrow unmarked roads (bring a compass). Burren area also offers Corrofin and Kilfenora (small loverly towns).

Almost forgot... Close to Ennis, drop by Quin. Quin Abbey + some nice pubs and a very good restaurant....

Bottom Line: You can easily spend 2-3 days in Clare.

Enjoy.

My family live there and it takes us roughly half an hour to drive from Ballyvaughan to Ennis.
Ennis is kinda like a big town and Ballyvaughan is a village in the heart of the Burren. These aren't city's. The only citys as such in Ireland are Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast.

There's a hotel in Ballyvaughan called Hyland's Hotel, which is very popular. There is also a pub in the town called o'Briens, which I am sure does B&B. Nightlife in this pub is brilliant.

A bus trip takes c. 40 mins...Neither Ennis or Ballyvaughan are cities- Bus Eireann run a bus from Ennis to Ballyvaughan daily... Ennis should only take you a day to ingest and then you could go to Ballyvaughan for the night... Ennis nightlife is pretty good but can be a bit rough afterhours... Ballyvaughan is quieter, but would be a better starting point for a trip to the burren the next morning! Enjoy
