I drive a Prius. I installed solar panels that generate 75% of my electricity. I recycle and I compost kitchen waste. I try to buy organically grown food when ever I can because it cuts down on pesticide use.

I recycle everything that can be recycled in my area. I compost organic waste. I use public transport or walk everywhere. I plant trees where ever i can find a good spot (especially indigenous trees). I don't eat meat. I try to buy and grow as much organic food as possible. I don't leave lights on in rooms I'm not using. I never get plastic bags when I go shopping (always use my own bag). I try to avoid overpackaged items. I often pick up litter on the street or at the beach etc. I use environmentally friendly, additive free laundry detergent, soap, etc. I buy second hand clothes. When I take a shower and wait for the water to heat up, I use a bucket to collect the water until the shower is ready to use. The water in the bucket is used to water plants or put in the washing machine.
And I'm always looking for other ideas to be more eco friendly.

Well, in my garden, I use gravel, paving and mulching around plants rather than bark which can cause allergies. I use native plants for my garden because they don't create a pollen problem for allergy sufferers. These plants are pollenated by bees rather than the wind. In my home I used Radiata Pinex Laserframe timber which is kiln-dried, machine graded and chemical free. For heating, I use a Daikin Inverter heat pump which pumps out over 3 times more energy, in the form of heat, than it consumes. For cooking, I use an induction cooktop which stays cool to the touch and there is much less wasted energy. I have a rainwater tank installed at the rear of my property to collect roof water for use throughout the garden and for outdoor tasks.

I wear only natural fiber clothing, I eat what I grow organically and I recycle everything. I use a push reel lawnmower and have a compost. I use only organic fertilizers and built a greenhouse on the back of my property. I don't use driveup windows, idling builds up large amounts of toxic emissions, I bicycle whenever possible and I plant alot of trees wherever and whenever I can.

I no longer use cleaning products in my house. I only use vinegar and water. It has cut down the chemical use and my chemical exposure. I am also converting to pollution free energy in about 1 month. This is easier to do than most think! I also don't use my car for anything other than to get to work, which is conveniently less than 5 miles away.

I recycle everything that is possible. Don't waste paper - save a tree. Veggie scraps, etc - go for mulch. Started a mulch bin.

Best of all - before I do something outside, etc - I think!

I BBQ steak and ribs as often as possible, thus cutting down on the amount of electricity I use.

I flush the toilet 3 times every time I use it, thus cutting down on germs in the house due to "floaties".

I drive as much as possible, thus cutting down the risk of getting an injury when walking, thus reducing the amount of xrays taken.

I am a biologist witht the state of IL and I ensure that highway projects are built with a minimum of biological impact. I recyle as much as possible, I don't use electricity unless I need it, and I vote!
