because it's considered a "kid" hairstyle. but different style braids are comming back but not for adult women.

I wore braids when my hair was long but after I had my son short hair was easier to handle. But around where I live there are a few adult woman who wear braids

Most adult women don't braid their hair because they did as a kid! So they assosiate braids with little kids! They don't want to people to think they look like a kid!

Well I know for me, as I got older I went shorter to look a little more professional, so braiding is out of the question.

A single braid makes to look too "nature-girlish".
Two or more braids makes me look like I'm trying to look younger, which in turn actually makes me look older. I hope that makes sense.

Braiding seems kind of childish to me. Once I hit the teen years it just made me look really young.
