I jsut recently told my mom that i wanted to move in with my dad for my high school years. When i told her, she didn't even let me explain and hung up on me. Now when i try to call she won't talk to me or just won't answer. I've done about all i can do to still be close with her and she keeps treating me like dirt. Oh yeah, and she disconnected my cell phone. What should i do?

If your dad is willing to take you in then make sure it's legal. I had a similar experience with my daughter. she lived with me for two years and as soon as her mom found her self unemployed my daughter became her meal ticket. she took me to court and the court allowed my daughter to return to her mothers house. against my daughters wishes. my daughter is now thirteen and she is again living with me but this time i went to court first and they reversed the decision because my daughter was old enough to understand what she wanted. it's a touchy situation because one parent feels betrayed. but you must speak to your dad and maybe he can speak to your mom. remember that your mom loses any child support that she may be receiving and for allot of folks that's a hard pill to swallow. If living with your dad is what you want to do have him go to family court and go through the process of gaining custody of you. this will leave your mom with no legal ground to claim you back and maybe she just might understand that your serious about living with your dad. she may be mad at first but sooner or later she will forgive and forget.

Why do you want to live with your Dad? What is your reasoning? Its tough when parents are divorced. Kids always think the grass is greener on the other side. If you have a cell phone at a young age, life can't be that bad

Well, now it's time to tell your dad that you want to live with him; he will probably need to get a custody agreement, so be prepared for a long battle.

As for your mother, I would say that she's demonstrating exactly WHY you might want to live with your father. She's acting like a spoiled little child.

Get your dad to get you a cell phone, if you really need one (though "need" is a relative term ... just 10 years ago, cell phones were RARE!).

First of all, where are you right now? If you called her, you're obviously not with her now. Secondly, is there a good reason why you want to live with your dad? Or a reason you don't want to live with your mother? I'd talk to your dad and find out what he thinks, and see if he can file some sort of petition to get temporary custody or something like that. Hope it all works out for you.

give her time to get used to the idea..she's just hurting right now..and acting pretty childish at that....but..give her some time..and if this is something you really want to do and your dad approves..then she'll see that it's a good thing and be supportive.

Go live with your dad. If that is your mom's reaction it may be very healthy to stay away from her for a while.
