I had a great mix the first time, but really wanted Nina Simone's "ooh child", which I never thought I'd want so bad, do you have music suggestions or experiences to share?

Who has time to listen to or even notice music when you're trying to squeeze out a baby?!?!? Perhaps it's just my luck. I had 5 1/2 hours with my first, who is now 4 y.o. My second, now 6 months, was a rocket: 90 minutes. I was only in the hospital for half of it.

If I would have need a c-section, some Enya would have been nice.

You seem to be a relaxing music type of person, so I'd be of no help. I was listening to Audio Slave and Red Hot Chili Peppers w/ my first baby.... that's just me though! I hope someone can help you.

I'd say, find a classical collection that is redone w/ other instuments. I used to study Motzart so, I do have a soft side too, I just don't keep in touch w/ it that much!

Good Luck!

When I delivered my first son, I didn't want sh!t playing in the delivery room. I just wanted to cry through my contractions and be left alone. LOL Once I had my epidural, I still didn't want music clogging my thoughts...I just wanted to talk with my husband and the excellent nurse I had and enjoy my last few moments as a "free" woman. :)

How about Pachelbel's Canon in D? It is beautiful and soothing.

There is actually a great CD - "The Elegance of Pachelbel" - I picked it up at Bed, Bath & Beyond, but it is also available at Amazon.com. It is a full CD with lovely variations of Canon in D.

At first I wanted soft music playing, but as the contractions got worse, I didn't want to hear ANYTHING. All noise made me irritated.

something calming and even tempo so that it can be easily played quietly in the background. believe me while giving birth you will have doctors, nurses, family all around you talking to you as well as you focusing on your breathing, pushing you will not even know that the music is there.

When I gave birth 2 weeks ago(all NATURAL), I probably couldn't hear anything over my screaming and swearing. What's the point anyway?
