Have you ever made the choice to never tell a lie again, for any reason? If so, what is your experience? If you haven't, do you think you could if you wanted to? If most people hate liars, then does that mean that they hate themselves as well? What do you think would be the possible outcome if no one ever lyed again?

When I was young, I used to lie quite often. Unfortunately, something bad happened because of a lie I told, which deeply affected me. After that, I decided that I would do my best to always tell the truth. It has been 13 years since then, and it was actually a lot easier to stay the course in the beginning than it is now. I lied the other day for the first time since then. It stunned me afterwards and I'm still reeling from it. It has also reminded me of how gross it feels inside after you tell a lie. It has actually strengthened my resolve to continue being truthful, but it has made me realize that there is probably a human nature component to telling lies. It is definitely a struggle worth the effort, though.

In response to one of the answers I recieved; my decision to be truthful is not based on Christianity since I am not of the Christian faith.

I am one of those that does not lie. I make it a goal in my life, not for any religeous reasons, but because I like myself a lot better when I can say I am as honest as you can get. The problem is, NO ONE ever believes me, because they know they are a liar themselves. I find it hard to even think of a fake lie when asked to. I find that if I don't even train my mind to think that way, they will never even spill out of my lips accidentally. I applaud you if you have made the decision to be completly honest to everyone you encounter, you'll feel a lot better about it in the end. I sleep very well at night because of it.

I was never much of a liar (I'm very bad at it) before I was a Christian. As a Christian I choose not to lie. Of course, we are all sinners, so I cannot say I will never lie again but that is my goal. I don't hate liars, but I hate lies. I have two children, ages 9 and 15, and the first time I caught them in a lie I made it very clear how much I hate lies. They have never lied to me again. I can tell when they don't want to tell the truth, they stop and think, but they won't lie to me. They are great kids, and I think it is a strong statement for living the Christian faith.

I think when people say they hate liars they mean people who never tell the truth and lie about every little thing constantly. I'm sure almost everyone is guilty of telling a few lies but I don't think they mean to say that hate anyone who has EVER lied, just people that lie constantly.

Lying is something that is essential to the human nature. We will never be able to stop lying completely, simply because deception is a vital part of society. If everyone were completely honest about every aspect of life, it would be utter chaos. We need to lie in order to get ahead, spare someones feelings, cover up a secret that is not a 'need to know' situation and most importantly about relationships. If husbands and wives were completely honest with each other, 100% of marriages would end in divorce and/or murder.

Although it is nearly impossible to make it the first twenty years without telling a single lie, a person can vow to never tell another lie again.

Not lying is not impossible.

What worries me is giving information that is not 100% accurate. A person can give low quality info and not even be aware of it. One of the more famous examples, of course, would be how once upon a time, everyone in Europe that know anything about the Earth would gladly tell you that it was flat as all Hell. Today we know better......

I made the decision not to lie when I was baptized into Christianity. And of course, I try not too, but everybody messes up and nobody's perfect. Sometimes I'll just tell a lie without even thinking about it, and later say "oops, I shouldn't have done that"

I do not lie, and I know several others who do not.
Sometimes it is not easy to tell the truth, like when you know people will be hurt, or get angry at what you say.
I could lie if I wanted to, but I would feel sick if I did.
If nobody ever lied again, that would mean that Jesus has returned and we are on the New Earth.

GOD IS TRUE ! It is very good to know that the lie is a bed thins, but in life there are circumstances ,i am tired,I don"t whant to lost something,I think they don"t understand me and I accept lies.
When I lie, I lost the help of Jesus. When I live in true,I win always,
imediatlly or after many years,it is good to accept this and wait in silence, you are not alone.
But I know ,in the eyes of Good , isn't a middle road,or is lie ,or
is true ,and I go to the church and I ask My Lord Jesus ,for foget me.
I am only a man, which faith with my character, which is bed and sometimes good, but is very good to know that God is waiting for me.
Every day I have to win the faith against my bed part of my character.

I don't lie. That being said, there are often ways of giving an answer that satisfies the asker, without either lying or answering the question.
