First, of course, you must limit your calorie intake and stay away from fatty, greasy foods.
Second, you can exercise without a formal routine. The results won't be as fast, but if you just make little changes in your life, it will help.
For example, take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator. Find reasons to walk instead of driving. When you are walking somewhere, quicken your pace and take longer strides. When sitting, tighten and relax different muscles. Take a few deep breaths every once in a while.
Every little bit helps.

If this is a serious question, then you deserve this serious answer:
Disease and Death.
SOME form of exercise is required to burn the calories you take in. There is not much more to it than that. Sitting and typing does not burn many calories. Walking burns many, many more. Running and swimming even more.
Your exercise need not be any kind of formalized regimen. Exercise simply means "work." Walk up a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator. Park at the edge of the parking lot instead of driving around looking for the closest space. Fly a kite istead of playing a video game.
Burn more calories than you eat. No exercise, then eat very, very little. Take multivitamins and check in with a doctor once in a while.

Basically, your body burns approx. 10 calories per pound you weigh per day. If you eat less than that you should lose weight if you are a moderately active person. However, I'd still recommend the exercise, it has the long term health benefits and there tend to be some nice (read HOT) guys at the gym who appreciate a lady who takes care of herself.
Know it, been there, done it. I've lost 70 lbs. by eating right and yes, exercising.
There are other reasons to go to the gym besides sweating.
Best wishes,
BillyT.

Eat right. If you have no time for excercise then reduce the amount of calories you take in.
