I'm writing letters to troops deployed overseas, but I'm not sure what a good way to start is. These are people who are complete strangers to me, and while I'm usually quite witty and funny, I'm a bit at a loss as to what I could write about...Any suggestions? SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY PLEASE!!

I was a combat soldier (desert storm era). Soldiers like to read about comon things in life, weather, goings on at home, the possibility that someone waits for them, and just things to take their minds off the mission for a brief while. It gives the soldier hope that one day there will be a better life than ducking bombs and bullets. Another good thing to do is send little treats and pictures. I don't mean naked pictures or anything, but just pictures of home, people from home, a little box of chex mix meant the world to me sent from someone "back home". It was like a bit of home that we all could enjoy.

To borrow some words from your question...I would say, "You are a complete stranger to me, and while I'm usually quite witty and funny, I'm a bit at a loss as to what I should say to you. Let me start by thanking you for your selfless service." Something like that and proceed to talk about your life..like career, family, friends, etc. I think just everyday talk is your best bet. Keep it real, ya know?!

Tell them how much you appreciate them doing what they do. About how many people hear at home have faith in them. That they are doing a great job. Wish them well. My husband is a Sailor he like to hear about happy things. So maybe tell them some jokes or something to get their spirits up. Biggest one make sure you say thankyou from all of us. May post a question on here that says what you want to say to a soilder over seas. Then copy this down for them to read. Good luck

Tell them, dearie, that you want them to be safe, stay strong, and you can also use some humor in your letters as well. Even though I don't support this war at all, I have much love for the troops, airmen, sailors, and soldiers. Just write from your heart and tell them that you pray for their safe return home. God knows, they need to know that somebody cares, no matter what your political beliefs are. Be well, m'dear!

tell them you are proud to write them. Reassure them that MC Donald's is tell here waiting for them. (I'm serious) Normal day to day stuff. You could tear out a couple cross word puzzles and put those in the letter. send a couple jokes from the new paper, nothing political. in good taste. ask them if there is any thing they need. Don't ask questions about their mission as they can't answer you any way. Tell them you are keeping them in your thoughts and prayers if religious. tell them to stay strong and reassure them many many folks are back here supporting them.

and I thank you for writing them and your support for our hero's

Tell them about yourself. Do not write about the war. I have a friend over there and he asks for magazines, send them stuff that they are interested in. Keep them up to date about what is going on in the states. They dont have the same access to the radio and tv stations that we do. Do not talk about Politics or religion unless they ask you!

it really is not sexist to assert that a woman can not often beat a guy in wrestle, in straightforward words the fact.it really is now to not say that there are not exceptions to the rule of thumb... i'm particular there are, yet they're only that, exceptions. If women persons were extra sensible in wrestle, does not it were lady-ruled societies for the previous 5 millenia?
