It all could be the dog and pony show that's for sure. If they give any help at all it's forward movement to the problem.

It depends on the suburban teenager. Some of them could not care less, but I think there are some that are legitimately concerned. As for Bono, Bill Gates and the like... the jury is still out.

Of course some rich celebs REALLY care about poverty. Just because they are rich doesn't mean they don't care about other people or what is happening in the world. And I'm sure there are celebs that don't care, as well. What's most important is that celebs, regardless of their motivation, are bringing attention and help to people who need it and making things better on the whole.

Bono and Bill Gates have foundations that do help the poor. Bono helps the poor in Africa, as a humanitarian measure. Poverty creates diseases like aids.

I think they really do in most cases.
Their life has been totally blessed and to some degree it makes them feel sad and guilty to see all the suffering.
Better to have them caring and raising money for the poor than doing nothing and robbing workers for a living like most CEO's

that's bullshit , they are human and they do care , bill gates gives alot of his money to charity when he doesn't even have to, and bono is out there talking about it , when he doesn't have to either. you act like you know these people personally and you don't , nor do you listen to them and what they feel in their hearts , cause i heard the edge from u2 bitching 1 day about bono and all the work he does and how it was interfering with the band time and that was pissing edge off

I think for them it is just a photo op. I think Warren Buffet donated $30 billon to gates foundation so he could be heaped with praise before he dies. He originally said his fortune would be distributed after his death. He only wanted the publicity.
I don't think they have to give up their fortunes in order to "care" I just think for them, it is publicity. Bono needs the face time in front of the cameras.

I think those people care about poverty... just not enough to give up their own wealth and be poor themselves, because that's what it would take. To end the type of poverty that is killing and starving people, everyone would have to agree and want to live way more poor than they are now. If everyone lived like lower lower middle-class people, then I think abject poverty could end, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Action is always louder than words and at least the Bonos and Bill Gates are putting their monies where their mouths are.

Yes, I believe there are many rich and famous people who truly care about the welfare of others. As many not-so-rich and famous people do too. Our purpose on this planet is to care for one another and do what we can to help, regardless of power, financial or popularity situations.

the reason they try to look like they care is so you will go to their concerts and movies and make them more money simple as that if they really cared they might try to use their celeb status to change policy and help clean up our country much less the rest of the world.
