Have a chain link fence professionally installed - ask the crew to dig a trench and bury at least two feet of heavy duty fencing under the ground.
Or, get an electronic fence installed just outside of your real fence (so he can't dig and damage the wire!) He'll get zapped by the collar everytime he gets too close to the real fence.

I had to build a 6 ft privacy fence, but it sounds as though you already have quite the fortress set up. I don't like tethering dogs, it creates a mean dog most of the time. Perhaps you can leave it indoors or take it to doggie day care for the day while you are out. At least it returns home, that's a bonus, but no telling what could happen while it's out of the yard.

If your dog is escaping a fenced yard, the fence is not secure. You're on the right track, but you have to make sure that the fence is 100% secure everywhere. You need to find out how and where he's getting out. Is he digging out, jumping over the fence, or is there a hole in the fence?
You also may want to consider why he's escaping. Addressing that problem may be easier.
Is your dog neutered? If not, getting him neutered may be an easy solution. It tends to reduce a male dog's urge to roam.

I put chicken wire fencing ..at the bottom of the fence folded it and made in to a (L) shape.. and attatched it to the lower part of the fence.and the other half you allow to go lay on the ground. Cover the part that is on the ground with dirt. ... The dogs wont dig the chicken wire . It will hurt there paws..

There is some type of invisible fence, where your dog wears a certain type of leash and you set boundaries in your yard, and if it goes beyond the boundaries it gets some type of little shock thing. That's for if you're desperate - sorry I don't have more details.

Oh honey my sympathy! we went threw the same thing. those radio fences don't work with dogs like ours. Its not that their bad just a little on the wild side still and stubborn as mules. I mean this with all my heart get a running line. Its not cruel and your baby is not gunna get off of it. If your baby is anything like mine a regular collar will not work so get halter or chain what ever works for you.

Invisible fencing, or supervised time outdoors, are most common solutions.
The second may not work, if your dog is strictly outdoors.
Also try the post you stick in the ground, with a leash, to control the limits of his/her wandering.

I have a a husky wolf hybrid like that, she can climb fences and just walks right past the invisivle electric fence things I have tried. I have just accepted the fact that she can't be contained outdoors, so I just leave her inside all the time and take her on frequant walks.

They make some sort of sonic collar that senses when it has gone beyond the range of the main device plugged in inside, and it shocks the dog to remind him to come back.
Poor doggy :-p
