A lot of the time its the people already there. I've gone to the same church since I was a baby and I've never felt "in."

I also go to Christian school and even there its not cool to be Christian. I have lost a lot of friends the past year because they've all wanted to do what they want and when I say they shouldn't or its not right they stop talking to me. So I almost feel betrayed by Christians, don't get me wrong, I am a Christian and try to do whats right even though its not cool, but its hard not to become disillusioned with it because of the way I see them act.

No ones perfect and I'm certainly NOT, ha ha, but it seems crazy to say one thing on a certain day (Sunday) and the Friday before you were acting like you shouldn't. That's why I try to avoid going to church. Its like everyone has turned into some fake thing and don't know who they are and act differently, and I don't want to be like that.

Actually I do go to church some times. My wife is a Christian and I'm Pagan. But if I wasn't supporting her I wouldn't go. Mostly because I find church chronically boring. The music is generally uninspired and while the preacher is a decent speaker much of what he talks about is irrelevant to my life. Moreover after a few dozen Sundays you start hearing much of the same stuff over and over again.

My wife tells me that she mainly goes for the friendships. This I can understand there are a lot of nice people at her church and she has developed some good friends.

I'm a southern Baptist. I haven't been to church regularly for many years. I do watch it on TV, mainly Adrian Rogers.

What has kept me out of church? Okay, the fact that If I want to go to Sunday School I have to go to the Singles class, which I despise!! Why can't classes be topical!!

Also, I'm sick of the kids making noise, people kicking the back of my pew, candy wrapper noise, and old people that snort their snot and audibly munch on it. The want-a-be opera singers that sound more like wailing mules in the choir. The churches being to large and impersonal. Constantly, preaching about Money. Building campaigns and the "who has the biggest church in town" contest.

Oh, I could go on and on!!

I'm an atheist. Would be sortof hypocritical. Besides, I'm stingy with my weekends. But...if you wanna go, knock yerself out!
