Okay,so this guy I know has lived in the USA for 8yrs illegally.Last month he finally got his approval for his legalization. But he lived here 8yrs illegally before he got approved.Do you approve of him being here?
If you approve because he's now legal, well what about the 8yrs he was illegal?
And if you can approve of him now, then why not approve to let every illegal here become legal?
I'm not talking amnesty for all illegals. But if people who've been here 8yrs illegal until now suddenly become okay because they've been approved by INS,then why's it not okay for the others to get their chance ?Why send them back before they can try?

The guy I know married a citizen. Some people don't have that option and it becomes even harder for them.

It's complex.
He at least tried to get legal and now got legal, under our existing laws. Depending on what he did earlier (identity fraud, etc.) I'd see that like someone going to jail and doing their time. It is over.
Would I want to hire him for a job requiring integrity over an equally qualified person who didn't come here illegally?
Probably not.
The problem with 'everyone' is the huge numbers and the huge drain and impact on education and other services. When there were 2.3 million, we gave them amnesty.
12 to 20 million is a much bigger number and a much bigger problem. We subsidize the poor we let in, and we have been and would forever be subsidizing these people who came in against our will.
That is in no fashion fair.
However, once I got border security and if we had LIMITED immigration going forward to give our schools and services a shot at recouperating, I'd go for legalization of those here (not citizenship and no right to bring in outside family and quadrupal their numbers.) We need limited numbers to provide subsidized services, or we need to stop subsidizing education and let everyone pay for their own, like Mexico. I would be willing to start with a clean slate, today, though.
The problem of the 'what is good for one is good for all' argument is that it ignores the huge impact that has occured only because the numbers themselves are so huge. Volume does make a difference.

Because they need to go to the back of the line, and that means going home, where all the other legal immigrants are waiting, to get in, and how long should we let them live here illegally until they get legal 10, 15, 20, years. and I don't approve of him now that he is legal, but what can you do after is becomes legal, he should have been deported years ago. If he was in Mexico and they found out he was their illegally for 8 years he would be in prison serving 5 years and then deportation. Why should only America not enforce their laws.

I was brought here by my parents when I was 2. It's not something I chose to do, to break the law. I grew up just like any American. I am a good, moral person. Now I am 21 yrs old and cannot get legalized. How can people say its wrong for everyone when you don't the person's case. I don't own any fake SSN nor anything similar (fake ID's) I have respected the laws of this country except for the fact that I'm here illegally but going back to my native country is like traveling to China. I do not know the place nor the people. I know the US and its customs and values. I consider this place my Home because it has been my home. And I have treated it like so. I RESPECT and LOVE this country.

He has used the marrage loop hole. It is there for good reason but often people abuse it.
Personally, I think the correct thing to do is to review the case of every illegal in the country and based on the merit of lack of merit of each case then either allow them to stay legally or deport them. Now having said that I also understand that there is no way in hell we can actually do that, so my feeling is that as many as can be caught should be deported. Regardless of if they are good people or not they have broken the law to get here. There are legal channels that can be followed. Maybe that needs to be reviewed but they still are here illegally.
It's kind of like asking the question should the police stop all speeders or just the one's that speed real bad...

I don't agree that he was able to become "legal" just because he married an American citizen. I at least hope he had to pay all the back taxes and fines, etc. that he incurred for the time he was illegally here, before they approved him.

He should be deported for being here illegally! Would his country put up with that.......doubt it! Did he pay taxes for 8 years or did he just take from us with out being a tax payer! As far as I am concerned if he didn't he also owes back taxes for 8 years! How many American's went without a job or something because of this person! IT'S NOT RIGHT!

No I don't approve of the fact he was here for 8 ******* years before he became legal..... Now he is though, so it is a moot point.
Why does one crime justify another to your tiny little brain? People commit murder and get away with it, does that mean I should be able to kill and not be punished? Of course not, and it is ignorant to think otherwise. That goes for ANY crime!
No I understand, I just don't give two shits about their plight.... They elect officials, they have exactly what they deserve.

Okay lets put it this way. A fellow lives for 40 years without even a traffic ticket. On his 41st birthday he robs a bank and kills the teller. Should he be let go (rewarded) because for 40 years he was living legally?
Laws are laws and lawbreaking is law breaking. If the law calls for jail then jail it should be. If the law calls for deportation then deportation it should be.
Then I haven't been to college to become one of the "Educated Ignorant".

He should go back to his home country and wait in line or serve time in prison for his illegal entry into the USA!! Our prisons are overcrowded but when the illegal immigrants are deported, we will have room for those who became 'legal' after the fact. Or they could just all go back to where they f--king CAME from!!
