No, the average North Korean doesn't even know about the recent missile thing. Their TVs and radios are built to only receive the single government channel, and anyone caught receiving outside broadcasts is sent to a labor camp.

I'm sure there are a few connected people who have privileges, but the other %99 only know what they are told or leaks in on smuggled South Korean videotapes. If you don't believe me go to the Korean Central News Agency website and you can read in English the same crap the people there are told.

For most North Koreans they would have only the "intra-net" which means they access only other North-korean computers and web-sites. Any access outside that cul-de-sac to the larger internet is strictly controlled and allowed to only a select few, such as for news-gathering. Any news thus gathered is then "spun" and passed to the intra-net and other internal media agencies.

One of my Chinese students visited North Korea. As a matter of fact, there are more people using computers than one would believe. They even have computer bars. The computers are under constant scrutiny for international transmissions. My international transmissions are also under constant scrutiny by the Department of Homeland Security. It is the times we live in.
I met a man who just married a North Korean woman that he met is a mail order bride web site, AsianEuro.com.

total lock down. when you're in a dictatorship like lil kim has going over there, you don't want people knowing the real truth about you and your dad and communism. they believe what they are told to believe. if not, they die. seriously I think there are only like 10 phones in all of north Korea. you can actually dial the number 5 and it'll ring to whoever has that phone.
