I have overprocessed hair... okay maybe even over overprocessed... I bleach it fairly often and have no intention of allowing it to darken. Now with summertime and swimming pools and sun damage it really needs some help!!! I use Nexxus Theapy Shampoo, and I usually put a leave in detangler in my hair (currently it's one of the Pantene leave-in detangling creams), and I usually remember to put in some kind of leave in conditioner when I am going to be exposing it to chlorine and/or sun, but it is so damaged right now it often tangles severely near the nape of my neck while I am sleeping... I also believe that the medications I am currently taking are contributing to the damage as well.... hiowever I am likely to be dependant upon most of the meds I am on for the rest of my life... heart medicines like lisinopril, atenolol and zocor, and diabetic medication (metphormin), typically I am also on antidepressants or mood stabilizers.... which ones are contributing to my damaged hair?

Seriously overprocessed hair can not be "fixed". it must be cut off. Once you get to the point of overprocessing, you have done so much damage that it gets spongy or mushy. More chemicals will only tend t omake it break off. I know this isn't what you want to hear. (I've been in the beauty industry since 1983). Medications can leave deposits on your hair, but generally they are a coating and not really causing your hair to weaken or tangle. No intention of going dark? How about going short! If you want to keep it light, and intend to keep bleaching and/or highlighting, keep the hair short so you are continually cutting off the most processed part of your hair. It will look better! Good luck!

sounds like a combination of the meds to me. I used to take metformin and it did a number on my hair as well. I don't think that antidepressants or mood stabilizers would effect your hair, but along with your other meds, it could be a possibility. Have you ever heard of the hair treatment called "cholesterol"? It is great for really dry and damaged hair. It is by Queen Helene and you can find it just about anywhere. A lot of the time it will be in the section for African American hair care products.

Good luck!

The reason your hair is so unhealthy is because of the bleach.Try using lime juice in your hair for a little while instead because it's natural and causes no damage to your hair.Instead of using a leave in cream after the shower try using a leave in conditioner that you wash out after a couple of minutes. Before going to bed use a rubber base brush with plastic bristles because it's the best brush there is. I know it's bad for your hair because this is when it's at its weakest state when wet but you could also brush your hair with the same brush as soon as you get out of the shower.

The medication isn't the issue. You basically answered your own question when you stated that you have over processed your hair. You also closed the door for any advice because you said that you didn't have any plans on allowing it to darken so you aren't willing to let your hair grow healthy then you'll have a massive amount of hair loss. I don't know about you but I'd rather have long dark hair rather than light bleached patches of hair.

Not trying to be funny but Good Luck

Hi

I recommend using a clarifying shampoo once a week along with a deep conditioner. Also, how often are you washing your hair? Cuz if it is really dried out, try only shampooing every couple days. I have blonde hair also, and i know it is hard to lock the moisture in.

You may need a trim long hair in the back knots up when it needs a trim.also try brushing it before bedtime. You need a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove medicine build up and dumb blonde shampoo and conditioner by Bed head. Hope this helps and good luck.also never put color over your ends everytime only your roots. And try a mutivitamin.

Holy ****. You dont need to be taking so much stuff. Heart medicine is important, take it. So is the diabetic medication. Stop taking antidepressants. They have unknown long term effects. No one even knows the mechanisms that it uses to control depression. You dont need it. Take lithium. Stop bleaching your hair. Use the hair color that comes in boxes.
