When trying to get healthy food at a supermarket, focus on the outer areas of the store and try to avoid the center aisles... here's why:
Outer areas include -- fruits and veggies, dairy (get low-fat or non-fat milk and yogurt), eggs, fresh food (rather than processed).
Inner aisles include -- processed goodies such as chips, cookies, canned items, etc.
Here's what you should shop for if you want to eat better:
1. fruits and veggies
2. low- or non-fat dairy products (milk, yogurt, cheese)
3. eggs
4. high fiber cereals and bread
Hope that helps,
Rachel

Pretty much, the only place you're going to find good food is in a grocery store. Once you get there, head for the produce, and only go around the perimeter of the store - do not go down any isles. That's where all the junk is. WTG leaf fan, pushing PC stuff.

You cant go wrong with fresh foods. Process foods add all kinds of fat, salt, chemicals to make their food taste good months later. Buy fresh and go to the market several times a week. In general; your plate should have as many different colors of foods this gets variety of nutrition. and 3/4 should be vegetables and grains with Protein being about the size of a deck of cards.

Tofu, salad, and anything with no sugar. Carbs turn to sugar, sugar turns to fat. Fruit is good but there is a lot of sugar in some fruit so keep that in mind. Stay away from things such as watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, and things of that sort. FYI. The south beach diet works wonders if you follow it the right way.

Fresh fruits and vegetables. Whole meats from the butcher counter (not breaded, frozen or processed). Whole grain breads and pastas. Skim milk and 100% juices. Yogurts. Whole grain cereals. Butter or margerine without transfats or partially hydrogenated oils (this holds true for peanut butter as well). Olive oil, grape seed oil, canola oil. Whole flower (nothing enriched or with enriched flour in it. Enriched means they took the good stuff out and put only a little back in).

Odds are you're eating too fast. Try holding a conversation while wearing a meal so you're not necessarily gulping down more than you have to feel full.

If you eat when you’re burdened, try munching on pumpkin or even sunflower seeds. You’ll need in order to chew more, which will dissipate most of that energy, but without introducing calories.
