If you're talking about the Caesars wet food that you can buy in the grocery stores, that is not "gourmet food" -- it's fillers, and salt, and probably even propaline glycol, which is a form of plastic!

If you really want to feed your puppy good food, feed her a premium brand such as Nutro, Royal Canin, Eukanuba, etc. or a holistic food such as Canidae or Flint River Ranch. Stay away from *anything* sold in a grocery store.

Yes, even "Puppy Chow". Purina Puppy Chow is junk food in a cute bag.

I personally don't like giving puppies soft food, because I think the kibble is better for their teeth/gums.

I typed this info fro my sheet I received form the animal shelter where I got my 2 month old Lab from. Fill a plastic container half full with SCIENCE DIET - SMALL BITE, then add cold tap water (just enough to cover the top of the food). Wait until food is soft. Mix 1 tsp. of Little Caesars Puppy food into ½ cup of softened SCIENCE DIET for added flavoring. I find my puppies enjoy the taste and I don’t worry whether or not they are getting enough food to eat. You can add some dry SCIENCE DIET food as a treat on the side as you must slowly introduce your pup to dry food. The softened SCIENCE DIET food mixture can be easily kept in the refrigerator for up to one week.
I hope this helps.

Look for a food that does NOT have "by products" in the ingredients list or you'll be paying a lot of money for garbage. Personally, I like Nutro - it has no by products and is reasonably priced and my dogs have done fine on it for more than 10 years. They make canned and dry dog foods for puppies and adults. Any changes in diet should be made slowly to avoid diarrhea - gradually mix more new food in with what you've been using until he's switched over.

No.

The puppy needs the nutrients it can get from puppy food for approximately 14 months. The dog is growing rapidly and the gourmet foods don't take the dietary requirements for puppys into account.

You can feed your puppy any kind of dog food as long as its for puppies. The kind you want to feed her may give her the runs though. I would go for dry food instead. Puppy Chow is the best.

Anything you can buy in a grocery store is not a quality food, much less gourmet.

Feed her a high quality kibble.
