Are thet the same thing? can i substitute one for the other?

You should not substitute them since condensed milk is very sweet and a bit sirupy. Evaporated tastes more like regular milk.

They are basically the same thing only sugar has been added to the condensed milk.

condensed is boiled down with sugar, evaporated milk is just more condensed without sugar...

evaporated milk is unsweeted ^_^

The ingredients:
Condensed: more fat,more
Evaporated: less fat, nearly no sugar, and obviously more water
