yes definatley, it is usually called Clinical Depression which happens when a traumatic experience happens in someones life. I went through it when I delivered a still born baby and I chose not to use meds but I am seeing a psychologist who is amazing if you think you may be experiencing this go see a doctor and get help because it is a tough battle. good luck

Yes, it is called bereavement and is classified as a psychological difficulty if it has gone on longer than would be expected facing a significant loss. It's a tricky thing to diagnose simply because each of us has unique ways of facing grief and move through the process on different time lines. If however it is interfering with your dialy functioning and you are feeling excessively depressed, suicidal, or feel very pessimistic and low self esteem you may wish to talk with a therapist who specializes in grief.

There certainly is. It is one of the stages of grief. It can also be seen as a situational or environmental stressor leading to depression. I hope better times come your way.

It's normal to feel deppressed after something tragic, if it lasts more than six months or so then it is probably real deppression.
