Ummm, being a Christian, I KNOW we don't believe that the earth is only 2000 years old...I don't know why you'd think that unless it's because of the AD thing...After Christ was born, the years started being numbered differently, with an AD at the end, which only means "in the year of our Lord"... and He was born a little over 2000 years ago, but we don't believe that the earth itself is only 2000 years old...IF there are some religious cults who believe that, well, they are WRONG...

I'm unaware of any religion that believe the Earth is only 2,000 years old. That would be crazy as we have clear history documented long before that.
Christians and Jews ( believe Muslims to) believe the word is about 6,000 years old, This is based on the account of the bible and the fact there is no history that goes back beyond about 6,000 years.
The justification of this is often that either God created an Earth that was already mature just like he created Adam and Eve already mature. Or that time passed differently before the fall of man ( before Sin)..

I've actually never met anyone who has claimed that the earth is only 2000 years old. It's 2000 ACE (after common era, or after christ.. whichever you believe) but everyone knows that before the year 0 earth existed, that's why it's refured to as 'BCE' (before common era, or before christ) because they felt the need to split it.
I'm not sure why, but I guess that people felt that the birth of christ made it so they had to start at zero again?

I'm not completely sure, but I think even religious wacko's believe the earth is older than 2000. I think they estimate it being about 6 to 7000 years. some even as much as 10000.
I suggest before you name call and bring controversy to a subject that is controversial enough that you get your "facts" straight.

LOL - you call us wackos and you cant even get it right. thats 6000 years Old not counting the 6000 years in the making.
Do I owe you an explanation? No. You seem to think you know what we believe (even if you are way off base).
We are actually near the seven-thousandth Sabbath Day's rest, when Jesus returns to clean house. When he comes, you'll know fear for all the world who doubted will tremble in fearful expectation. But before this happens the Antichrist comes.., and this evil fellow is due any time now.
Okay - this is your cue to laugh if you wish - but I am dead serious.

Who told you that LIE??? I'm Christian and I KNOW it is a hell of a lot older.. the only "christians" who believe that are the wackos who completely throw out the Old Testiment so they can do what they want and say, "oh, God wants us to LOVE" when He really tells them not to do most of the **** they are up to...
No one knows how long in our tiny understanding of time it, first of all, took Him to Create the world (how long a day for Him is) and how long people have been around between Adam and Eve and the next people meantioned in the Bible... seemed that people of God lived quite long lives compared to the short ones we live today.

I think some Creationists believe the Earth is around 8,000 years old, but no one believes it is only 2,000 years old. Recorded history goes back further than that.

actually its not the religious people that said that the earth is2000 years it is actually the scientist trying to make up a guess on the first day of gods creation. there is BC and AD and if you notice we are in 2006 AD.
BC=before Christ
AD=after death

Actually, the religious whackos think that the earth is somewhere between 6,000 and 10,000 years old. But, apart from that, the answer is contained within the question... they are whackos.
