I would go to the health food store and ask their advice. I'd also research the web. I know someone who lost most of his hair in his early twenties. His gut feeling of why that happened was because he wore a hat all the time.

You should talk to your doctor. There are many causes for female hair loss, and many of them are medical. You should treat the reason that you are losing hair, before you start trying to cover up or regain the lost hairs.

Is there a history of female pattern balding (sparse hair on the entire head) in your family?

Are you taking any new medications?

Any changes in diet? (not enough protein in your diet can lead to hair loss)

Some illnessess can lead to hair loss (such as anemia and some thyroid disorders, some skin disorders), as can stress (both a physical or traumatic event).

Some hair styling treatments and also twisting/pulling of the hair could cause your hair to break and appear thin.
