Ive heard that it must break your neck in order to act quickly

I hope that you're not planning some kind of self-destructive action as that's no fun. However, I'll answer your question as you would probably find the information on your own anyway.
One important feature to consider is the elasticity of the rope, as in general lack of any. Usually rope is stretched out before used as a noose. This is so there is little or no guessing regarding the force that's applied to the neck. Also, the rope should be reasonably smooth so that the running part of the noose slides with reduced effort through the rest of the noose. Manila rope run through a wash cycle then stretched with weights overnight would probably be the best bet.
Concerning the breaking of the neck, that is more of a function of the force of impact. There are execution manuals that describe the proper height of the drop based on the weight of the victim. If the drop is too short, the neck doesn't break, resulting in strangulation, which can take minutes to work. If the drop is too long, there would be sufficient force from the rope to act as a blade, resulting in decapitation.
In terms of size, the length needs to be long enough to meet the needs of the action, so you can err on the long side. The rope needs to be thick enough so it won't break from the impact. Half-an-inch or thicker should be sufficient.
Hopefully this is just for curiosity's sake only. Nevertheless, you're going to do what you want. Just do us the favour of not letting us know your plans as I have enough problems right now.

1 inch natural fiber pre stretched... do not use nylon or any braided rope... too much stretch...
But if this is for yourself I would urge a more causious course... I am of the Christian Faith and it would be wrong of me to not point out that if you do so you will not like where you are going any better that where you have been

I understand exactly what you saying and why. And I find it disturbing that breeds "split" as you put it and sway to extremes. But no. I do not think we should call them different breeds. We already have figured out how to specify the difference and I think it works. Re: the BC, just recently accepted by the AKC. The "conformation" standard is rather a mockery as this breed has "been" for ages and was not bred for its looks. They were bred by farmers to do a job, not by nobility as an ornament. The standard can not describe one of the most "unique breed" features, the look in the eye. One that I see lacking in conformation BCs. A conformation show can not prove what makes a BC a BC...herding instinct. One of the most amusing observations in notating the general difference between working dogs and conformation is the difference in the dog's "mass".... height, bone, head size, body, weight....which determines athleticism. Or ;) lack of!

Don't ever make a noose to kill anyone including yourself. MY lil bro said to us a heavy, yet flexible one (he's in boy scouts)

hemp is the best. use the leaves for one purpose, the stems for another.. what do you need a noose for anyway?
