Let's look at the back side of your question.
I would like to relate a story to you, it is true and without embelishment. During Field Service which is what Jehovah's Witnesses call their door to door ministry, a Witness rang a door bell.. When the man answered he started to cuss out the Witness about how religion had killed his son in Vietnam and he didn't want to talk to any of " G-- D--- Bible Thumpers" He went on for several minutes about how his son had been induced by a minister to "fight for God and Country" and go off to war.
The Witness had listened attentively to the man and when the man was done he started to slam the door. The Witness very calmly said "Sir ????"
The man didn't close the door. He said "yeh !!!????"
The Witness went on " I am very sorry for your loss and I can see and hear the pain in your face and voice."
The Witness continued "But there is something you need to know ---" The Witness paused a moment and the man calmed down a bit.
The Witness then said "You can be assured, sir, that the person who killed your son was not one of Jehovah's Witnesses."
The Witness and the man became friends and the man started to study the Bible. The man is now one of Jehovah's Witnesses and in his own words "I am a happier man now than I have ever been."
Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in killing anyone. They will not participate in any activity that will bring about the death of any human being by any means.
They do not take sides in religious or political conflict. They remain neutral and apart from all worldly activites.
They do not serve in the military, on police departments or as medics in combat or military hospitals.
The article below will show you some of the most hospitable and loving people you will ever meet.
The second article will answer a question many people ask "Does God Really Care About Us?
Good reading

The obvious answer is Islam. Don't believe it? Check with those who converted to Christianity in a Muslim country. Oh, that's right, you can't because most of them were killed for changing faiths. And to those atheists who wish to bring up the Crusades, do some reading in history. The crusades were started by the Catholic church in response to a call for help from the leader of Turkey. You see, Islamic terrorists had been laying siege to Christian nations in the Middle East and they needed help protecting themselves. They were not killing to convert, but to protect. The witch trials? Well, that was also a Catholic thing and perhaps you didn't know this but the numbers have been very inflated and most of those who turned in the witches were other women. The inquisition? Another Catholic deal. And, by the way, many Protestants were also killed during the inquisition. But you really don't want to go here otherwise I will have to remind you of the great atheist leaders such as Herod, the Caesars, Genghis Khan, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc. If you demand we answer for the deaths caused by an overly zealous Catholic church, then you must answer for the millions these icons of atheism have caused. Are you sure you want to go down this path?

Two things- The Crusades were from misguided people who either thought they were doing the right thing but weren't, or who KNEW they were doing the wrong thing but didn't care because it brought them power. You CAN'T use that as a reason to dislike Christianity (just the people who were in the Crusades).
The other is that Christianity doesn't kill people who don't believe it. Christianity says that it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment. That means we all bite the bullet. Except for that long-bearded British hippie guy, everyone in the science world recognizes that everyone dies at some point. Christianity doesn't say people die because they don't believe. It just says people die, and then they're judged.

Ah, but you see, that's the problem--most religions say the exact opposite to the way that their followers act when it comes to those of other religions. These religions DO advocate peace towards all others. Their followers are the ones who twist it around. My religion is pretty straightforward about it--Whatever you do, harm none. There's no wiggle room. That "none" includes yourself as well. However, my religion is fairly new, so maybe we'll have idiots like those one day, as well.

Islam . . . TODAY AND SINCE THE BEGINNING in their writings, on their buildings, etc.. Yep, you heard it here: ISLAM! Check it for yourself, or I'd be happy to provide you the exhaustive references/evidence.
Do you see suicide Christian bombers? Suicide Christian jet hijackers? Christians lopping Jews heads off online?
The IRA were a bunch of blood-mongerers claiming to be 'Christians' (which gave them power to do their evil), but this was never ordered by God nor claimed to be a religious-cleansing cause even by them.
Christians wrongly did it (Crusades, Witch Hunts, etc.) but is not commanded in New Testament Scripture. "We" were totally wrong, may God forgive us and forbid that we should ever repeat!
Old Testament recorded numerous incidents of genocidal warfare, but Christ came to change (fulfill) God's heart for humanity (and murdering isn't part of it). As "biomimetik" relates to us, God did order/sanction these acts, but what 'biomime' leaves out is a TON OF CONTEXT, JUSTIFICATION, AND KEY PHRASES (ie. Numbers 31: 1-12, 16, 19-54) that explain why this was done.
These people groups were utterly wicked and evil by ANY STANDARD and we would (SOMEHOW) seek to rid society of them today if we had any moral spine: ie. child predators, rapists, chronic abusers of women and children, mass-homicidal tyrants, serial killers, etc.

I agree with you. Christianity, as a majority, is not a tolerant religion even though their icon, Jesus, was a preacher of peace and brotherly love.
Witch Trials ring any bells?
