Should I worry about him? He is acting very calm now. Maybe he's just on a sugar low or something. I read on another question on here that other peoples cats have gotten into chocolate before and were fine.

It had been in the closet for god knows how long. It wasn't from this past halloween I don't even know when it was from. I had no idea it was there even. It was inside a white garbage bag.

Actually my house is very clean and I have had cats all of my life. I am very fit to have a cat. Some of you are jerks.

I called the vet and he said because it was milk chocolate he should be fine and might just get sick. They did say I could bring him in if I wanted to make sure so I am bringing him in to the vet now.

I don't think I'll come here anymore. The vet had completely different answers. It can damage there heart by making it race really fast the caffeine in the chocolate and also because it was milk chocolate he will be fine but just to be on the safe side they induced vomiting. Also in a crisis I don't need people ridiculing me and saying I an unfit and that my house is a mess. Seriously I would think people would give some constructive answers to help the little kitty if you really cared about cats. Bye this place sucks.

I think it's just dogs that have the real sensitivity to chocolate.

the thing with chocolate and animals...its not really a poison in a sense that the eat it, hack, and die. because of the caffine and some sugars that can't be digested, it actually harms the kidneys and other organs, and if eaten to many times it can cause eventual kidney and other organs to fail. i also heard it can cause worm infestation as well but i'm not sure about that one.

so if say you accidentaly leave a piece of chocolate aout and one of you animals steals it. its not really going to kill them but some monitoring should be in order for the next week. just in case. there are specialty stores that sell "Doggy" chocolate. that doesn't have any of the caffine and stuff.

Don't sweat it girl your cat will be fine mine eats chocolate all the time but in small amounts he seems to just have a sweet tooth. Unless you see to much of a change in you cat take him to the vet but otherwise he will be fine.

Cats do have issues with chocolate - but mostly the dark bitter kind. I would check her gums and make sure they are pink - if they go white at all - go to the vet

Cats can have an awful sweet tooth. Call your vet and just tell them what happened. They should be able to tell you over the phone if you need to watch for any reactions at all.

He should be fine. It is dogs that are allergic to chocolate. If you're really worried, just call the vet and ask him!

SUGAR can poison a cat by destroying kidney function. I think you should call or see a vet ASAP.
