If everyone stood back from the baggage claim, it would be easier to see your luggage arriving, easier to step forward to pick up your bags without knocking over other travelers, and wouldn't require every member of a traveling party and/or the people meeting them at the airport to crowd around the baggage claim.

Because it would not be enforceable.

Would we then hire stand behind the line police?

Ask yourself this---Do you have the patience to stand behind a line staring at 155 pieces of virtually the same looking luggage with no identifying marks from a distance after a 13 hour international flight OR would you probably make a beeline for an examination of the similar looking suitcases to find yours with the cute little ribbon you tied on it to find it easier so you can get the heck out of the stinking airport? With all honesty--I'm not that patient (and it has nothing to do with my heritage, nationality, race, religion or anything else --just my lack of patience).

Hey, that's a pretty good idea. However, if such a thing were made in airports, there would be less chaos, and we all know that airports just can't exist without a certain degree of mayhem. In fact, the kind of logic you're suggesting is probably against some airport regulation.

It would make sense and be a lot nicer, I always wondered why it takes the whole family to get the luggage to. As for the one who said greedy stupid Americans, hate to say it but it seems the foreign tourists or even the other culture Americans are the rude ones.

because greedy, stupid people(mainly Americans) would assume this mean everyone but them and stand in front of the carrousel anyways
