Atheists go out of their way to attack Christianity, but they always say that people should respect all religions, "be nice", etc. I don't get it. Do they really mean that everything is ok except Christianity?

If you're going to say something like, "Christians try to shove their religion down my throat." Don't bother. It's simply not true. Yes, there are missionaries and such, but they're not doing any shoving, just introducing. Christians don't want to force anybody to do anything.

True Christianity (meaning belief in the Bible - nothing more, nothing less) is the most compassionate religion. No where in the Bible does it say to force anyone to do anything, kill anybody, or any such thing.

If I get any answers that tell me to shut up or something, you're just proving my point.

Also, why don't you ever hear atheists complaining about Islam, Judaism, etc.? Why is Christianity singled out?

Oh, cry me a river!
I am so sick of this question.
They are 'attacking' your religious ideas because they can see their falsehood. They are not 'attacking' you, so get over it. Try to prove your side instead of turning into a whiny little girl. Maybe then they will respect you a little more.

You're wrong though, not all atheists say "be nice". The only thing that all atheists have in common is the disbelief in or denial of the existence of god or gods. There is no book to tell atheists how to act, therefore atheists don't have to act the same as one another.

While I am sure that there are some atheists that act hypocritical, there are these types of people in every group. The only difference is, ALL Christians are supposed to live according to the Bible, to "be nice" to others. That's why it's wrong when any Christian does otherwise.

I can't answer your question because it assumes something that is incorrect. By definition, atheism has nothing to do with preaching acceptance.

"Also, why don't you ever hear atheists complaining about Islam, Judaism, etc.? Why is Christianity singled out?"

Christianity isn't singled out. It may seem that way because there are more Christians here (and in the United states) than any other religious group. They attack the most so they are going to get attacked back the most. I have a much bigger problem with Christianity and Islam than I do Judaism, as it does not tell people that they are going to go to hell. Christianity and Islam do, both religions are based on fear.

"No where in the Bible does it say to force anyone to do anything, kill anybody, or any such thing."
Have you read the bible? if you need exact verses i will post it here.
So far it seems that you never read the bible complitely. You probably heard few peace msg from the Church.

As athiest or agnostic we are not attacking Ppl or thier belives, we are attacking thier lack of education.

Its different. When you talk to Christian the only argument they have is "Faith" They can't debate, they can't present arguments and they get very angry when you show them problems in thier own lovely bibles.
Once again we are not pressuring ppl we are pressuring thier education. If you look around than you realise that you blaming muslims with same aproach. You want them to be mroe educated so they can see some problems in thier religion and stop the terrorism but you are not doing any better than we are.

God hates education and there is no need for second guesses or interpretation. 2000 years of history shows what Christianity and religion did. And if you don't mind just do a search for crusaids, spanish inquistions, wars and so on.

Its cute how modern liberal Christians trying to talk about peace and love and ignore thier own history. I agree for the last 10-15 years things are changing but it does not give you rights to dismiss the history of has been done by Christianity. And if some1 will dare to take a calculator and see how mnay ppl were killed, tortured or genocide by Christianity ... than there will be no more guesses how bad are muslims.

In other worlds belive in GOD is a personal thing. Religion is organised Crime.

And just for the sake of argument. Only in 2000 on november one of the most religious states in US ( Alabama) finaly stop the law that prohibits interraccial marriage. ( you can look up on itnernet the facts)

So one of the major Christain states condems descriminations and claiming this to be the love msg from GOd. How cute.

State of texas has law that no1 who does nto belive in higher power can be work on any goverment position and it still active today. Cute isn't it?

Oh well there are your answers.

Therefore GOD hates education.

The bible says to get rid of all your worldly possessions and live your life like Christ, do you do that? Nope, you only read and live your life according to the parts that you like. Well, either you do the whole thing or you're not a true Christian. The only and I mean ONLY reason Christianity is so popular now is that it's been crammed down the gullet of every civilization since it began. Wars (think Crusades) have happened to try and convert people to it. Ever read a book called "Silence" ? Yeah, you should. More about Christian missionaries forcing people to convert or die. After you see a few of your friends killed because they don't buy what you're telling them to buy, of course you're going to convert. You're going to gladly tell your sons and daughters to believe as well because you are looking out for their safety. Yes you should be open to all religions. Except many Christians go "Are you Christian?" To which someone may reply "No, I'm buddhist (or hindu, or muslim)" and the Christian would respond "Oh that's too bad, aren't you worried about going to hell?" Those people piss me off. Now if you're not one of them, I got no problem with you.

Also, True Christianity has more to do with a belief that through Jesus you can receive salvation for your immortal soul than it does in the bible as you put it. Maybe if you read it you would know that.

The Bible doesn't say those things, but the Bible-thumpers do it anyway. Atheists get irked over Christianity because you can't go 5 seconds in this country without someone preaching Jesus or talking about God this and God that, and passing off their religious rules as plain "morality," which is false. By the way, today's Bible is VERY different than the books originally written by the authors. Most Christians have no idea what the Bible ever really said. Check out the book "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart D. Ehrman. If you can read it with an un-biased mind, which most of you cannot do, it will blow your mind.

You seem like a reasonable person, don't you think some Christians push their faith on others?

I used to be one, I used to knock on peoples doors unannounced, to tell them about god. I have had numerous religions knock on my door doing the same thing.

We have people picketing funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq with posters saying "This soldier is going to hell because god will not bless a country that allows fags. God is punishing this country"

We have people (cowards) shooting at abortion clinics.

We have people trying to legislate their beliefs into government law.

What word would you use to describe these actions?

For the most part the Christian community is OK, just like the Islamic community, but it's always the fringe that causes the problems.

Well, thank goodness I'm not an atheist, so I can't answer for them. However, you are wrong on at least two matters. "True Christianity" as you put it is a lot more than just belief in the Bible. It is about having faith in God and accepting His grace.

Also, the Bible does talk about killing in the name of God, specifically in the Old Testament.

Hey, shut up.....................Just kidding. No some Christians are cool and others try to shove it down my throat. Missionaries..........I'll feed you so you accept Jesus. The bible, I wouldn't know where to start on with the violence, war, incest. Buddhism is much more compassionate. Ask Pat Robertson about killing .Benny Hinn wouldn't go on a mission because he couldn't make enough money. Rev Phelps...............a great loving man. ( If there is a god, Rev. Phelps will show up in my nieghborhood!)

Perhaps it is a karmic backlash for all those people that good Christians killed during the Crusades and Inquisitions!

Not to mention the desire that Christians have to push their beliefs on other cultures!

Getting a taste of your own medicine and not liking it's bitter flavor!

ahh christ, here we go again. grow up and get a life. leave me alone. I don't attack groups or individuals, and I don't know anybody that does either. If you didn't post this inane question in the first place, there would be no problems. Save your energy by donating your time to a needy cause. That's what I do, and I'm not a bloody Christian, or anything for that matter.

I don't think Atheists, as a rule, say anything like "respect all religions." In fact, all faith-based religious belief is fully deserving of all the scorn and ridicule that can be heaped upon it. It is a matter of rational minds standing in opposition to delusion, willful ignorance, myth and superstition. It is quite necessary that this be done, if we are to have any hope that the human race will survive and evolve to meet out full potential. So, when delusion, willful ignorance, myth and superstition are presented and declared to 'truth', in the venue of a PUBLIC FORUM, it is absolutely necessary that it be confronted.

However, in the privacy of your own mind, rational people DO respect your right to delude yourself in whatever fashion you deem fit.
