try getting that question when you only have one child! its worse!! "dont you want to try for a girl" "dont you wish you could buy pink" "aren't you going to try to give him a sister" "dont you want one of each" puh-lease! I think in general, people ask too many damn question about things that are none of their business. Kudos to you though for taking the high road! But one of these days, I will probably smack somebody.

People can be real idiots. They are always asking questions that are 1 - none of their business and 2 - potentially hurtful. If people would only stop and think before they ask, the world would be a better place.
It's not that one sex is inferior, people just think that fathers want boys and mothers want girls, and, if you don't have at least one of each, there's something missing. You should try not having any children to talk about. People look at you like you're from another planet. Then follow up with really intrusive, personal questions like, "Why? Didn't you want any?" "Weren't you able to have kids?"
I reply by looking them straight in the eye and calmly saying, "Wow. What an incredibly rude question." It really knocks them back a step, and, hopefully, makes them think before asking such personal questions again.

My ex-boyfriend was one of six sons and none of them were multiples, ranging from age 18-34. I agree, it is completely wrong to ask a parent why they don't have more (or if they want more) so that they can have both genders in the family. It's ludicrous! And as if we have a choice, for that matter..
You sound like a great mom and your response to the questioners ("they were just what we wanted") is good enough. I think this same problem can also be attributed to parents with just one child. The same type of prejudice is handed down to them when they are told that they are selfish for not giving their child a sibling, etc..

We get the same thing. When we stop having kids (I am 35 and would like one or two more), we will continue to get it if we don't have a girl.
Honestly, I would quit if the next one was a girl. I would love a girl, but I would love another boy as well.
People are dumb.

i had 7 boys and i loved them every one.. i only have 4 living now.. but i always wanted a girl.. i had one miscariage though but it was to early to tell the sex of that child.. ;my mom had 7 girls and one boy... my boys have a attitude like my ex-husband who was a very mean abusive person.... they are not so abusive physically i do not think but they yell and do not treat a mom as they should.. and i do everything i can for them.. even babysit for a week for nothing...my one grandson is 10 and he was looking at things on the computer that he should not of been.. well for one i never knew you could look at things like porno or etc....but anyway i was to blame...but i did my best with 3 kids but i did not think that my grandson knew anything about that or how to look at things like that... i do not know myself, and do not want to know...but i have had the same comments but i did truly want a little girl to understand more how a woman or girl feels.. and to dress real cute and pretty.. i have some grandaughters and we are real close.. but i do not get to do what i want to do with them either because i am just the grandma....i hope you do not misunderstand what i am trying to say .. i love my boys with all my heart and soul.....but kids step on your toes when they are young and when they grow up they step on your heart... they can date and marry who they want but i cannot see anyone....i use to want to date but i do not care to now, so i guess that subject is closed..i hope i answered your question, and i hope you understand what i am trying to say too...
