I do not know where you heard that it would make him less aroused. It certainly would make him feel super-good. Unless he isn;t into that. Pretty rare though.
Why don't you just try openly talking about it?
If you are looking for some new sensations, maybe he is too.
I don't know what kind of relationsship you are in, but if you feel that this is something you both would be comfortable talking about, have a nice candlelit dinner, smooth music and have a relaxed, open talk. Some wine would help. Not too much. :)

Try cuddling playing, petting, stuff like that first. Kiss him a LOT.
Then get on his lap, look into his eyes, and ask very nicely, in your own words, to give you oral. But the key is to REALLY get him aroused first, if he's like, fondling your breasts and such he's probably about there, try to guage that.

No that is not true. Be honest with him and tell him you want to try it. He may be nervous that he will do it wrong and is too afraid to bring it up. Or he may think he is pushing you to try something you are not ready for. First rule in dating...BE HONEST.
