They don't. You might be hearing an old myth that says a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human mouth. This belief came about because when a dog bites a human and a human bites another human, an infection is more likely from the human bite. However, it is because the transmission of infectious bacteria is easier between members of the same species.

Actually, dogs and cats have the same temperature range....100.5 to 102.5 F. It is just because there is a certain amount of bacteria present in each breed's mouth. Dogs arent carnivores like cats are, they are actually omnivores, so they have less. Doesnt mean you still shouldnt get your dog's teeth cleaned!

Dogs' mouths are full of enzymes that kill bacteria. This is important because dogs, like a lot of animals, eat a lot of bacteria when they forage. Humans, most of whom don't forage, don't have the enzymes.

I will tell you why. I read this. dogs have a cleaner mouth because their teeth arn't as close together as ours and it prohibits bacteria from growing in between the teeth. So... KISS your doggie! IT'S o.k.
