I wonder how much we the American people are being taken for when we have to pay for illegal immigrants medical, housing etc. While employers: farmers, construction companies, restaurants etc are reaping the benefits by taking advantage of cheap, cheap labor? They pay no taxes or social security on those illegal wages allowing WE the American People to pickup the tab

Your question is just looking at the tip of the iceberg. How about the extraordinary wait time at hospital emergency rooms because the illegals want free medical care and know the hospitals can not turn them away. Then if you actually survive the experience, you may die from the cost of the emergency room. The hospitals explanation of the bill is that over 50% of their billings are for illegal aliens that do not pay, so they must mark up this loss to paying customers. Ever wonder why the teenagers in this country are more likely to get in trouble than in the past? Could it be that these teenagers were the one that used to perform many of the low wage jobs? With these jobs being unobtainable, these kids hit the streets with a sense of entitlement, and absolutely no work ethic. And then there is the crime factor. By the time an illegal alien enters the country and begins to seek work, he is indoctrinated in a criminal way of life. He has already committed dozens of crimes along the way, so what are a few more here or there! The statistics for illegals currently serving prison sentences are staggering, both in the amount of criminals serving second and third prison terms and in the shear amount of criminal acts known to have been perpetrated by single offenders. Living on the border, I can go on about the costs to U.S. Citizens from the illegal invasion of criminals into our society all day.

Illegals are still entitled to a certain amount in free social services, ie. medical care.....Because many of them come here and then give birth to children while HERE, their children are citizens and cannot be deported. This means that these illegals, who can either BARELY support or NOT support at all their own families, live off of a system which the US taxpaying population pays into. That is why I am against illegal immigration. If only 4% of the working population in the United States is illegal, then that means that the majority of immigrants in this nation have CERTAINLY has LEGAL options as far as immigrating here. In fact, the US and Great Britain have the most LIBERAL immigration policies in the world. We are worrying about a SMALL percentage of people who came here illegally but are consuming a HUGE amount of money/services for free. As far as them paying taxes is concerned, I'm not sure how they are doing this because, as a tax preparer I can tell you that if they provide an illegal social security number the IRS rejects their return. I'm not sure what the dollar amount is that these illegals consume, but America should not be forced into paying for the families of people who were never eligible to come here in the first place. Although I do not consider them criminals, they have indeed broken the law, and to not make them make amends for it would just allow everyone else who is not yet here to just flood into this country. What excuse could we possibly make then?? How could we possibly support people who are just allowed to come here, with no control? How many jobs could POSSIBLY be available to support everybody who would come here on an open border??? And as far as the notion that they only take jobs that nobody in America wants, that's a crock! The only reason Americans don't want these jobs is because employers are not FORCED to pay a decent wage!

I wish I had some dollar amounts on this! My brother works as a nurse in the maternity ward at a Ft. Lauderdale hospital and says the money paid to illegals having kids is astronomical. And when these kids are born they're US citizens so they and their mom are taken care of by welfare. I'm not against immigrants, just illegal ones!

The think tank estimates that if illegal aliens were extended amnesty, as President Bush has proposed, the impact to the federal budget would grow to nearly $29 billion.

The study found each illegal-alien household used $2,700 a year more in services than paid in taxes in 2002. Expenditures included Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion), CIS reported.

Though some argue legalizing illegal aliens would be good for the nation, the study finds the $2,700 per-family deficit would grow to $7,700 if amnesty occurred, bringing the total imbalance to nearly $29 billion.

listen, as americans we truly depend on illegal immigrants. we are a country that needs people "beneath us" to work the "lower" jobs. its sad but its true. they are taking the jobs that no one else wants. besides they help the economy by spending their money here. and some of their wages does go to social security, but they cannot access it. its a win-win. so everybody needs to calm down about this immigration issue and focus on the terrorist acts in the middle east and nuclear missles in north korea.

Yes they do. If they get hurt, what happens? They go to the hospital and get helped. If they cannot pay for it, us nice Americans pay for them, same thing happens with americans that don't pay their taxes.

Yes and no...we're a democracy and a free country...for those illegals who make enough they contribute just like you and I do...Unfortunately the majority are in low paying jobs and require various assistance...so in a way it costs us.
