he will get better at it as he grows up, but what you gotta do is when you call their name and the don't respond you need to walk to the dog and just slap the butt and tad and they will know that they will get hit if they don't come when they are called to.

Sound excited, run backwards and clap your hands.

I know it's old-fashioned, but try reading some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

How long have you had this dog? What you can do, is keep the dog on a long leash, let him get ahead of you, and then call his name like you would normally do, when he doesn't respond, just slowly "reel" him in, closer and closer until he is at your side. Keep calling his name, and say either come or hear as the command you want him to learn. Give him a treat when he gets to you and keep repeating. Always after saying his name, tell him the command you want, because it's that action you want him to follow. So it would be Jack "here" or Jack "sit" etc... When you say his name first, he will learn that you want his attention, then give the command you want him to follow through on.

Put a 8 foot leash on your dog and let it get to the end of it. Call its name and if it doesn't come pull it toward you while calling "jake come" or what ever your dogs name is. You'll have to do this a couple of times a day for a while. Don't use treats, use affection. When the dog gets to you whether on its own or by pulling it to you praise it ie. "good boy", "good boy"!!!

well that will mean u are patient. there are three ways to teach him how to come.
1. tie his neck with a rope then each time u call his name pull him towards u
2. when u want to give him food stand some diastance away then call his name and show him the food
3 call him then run
u need to do this over and over for many days then it will become instinct to ur dog that when u call u want him to come over
NEVER BEAT THE DOG
IF U CALL AND HE COMES TOCH HIM AND SAY SOMETHING LIKE GOOD BOY
PUT HIM TO INFERIOR POSITIONS....... what i mean is that at times take ur food where the dog is give his own on the floo and lace urs on a table by that he'll see u as the master that must be obeyed
HAVE FUN

What I think you should do is train him. What I did for my dog was calling him by his name for about 1 1/2 months, then once I knew for sure he knew what his name was I called him by his name saying "Come" then when he eventually does it I offer him a treat. You should be patient when training him because it may take awhile.

Hope I helped!

train him to come by calling his name and rewarding him with a treat when he comes. this takes time and work on your part, dogs often have a short attention span so you must be willing to work through that.

Just keep using his name, does he know it yet? If he just isn't coming to you because he is a brat, make him coming to you a positive thing. They won't respond to negatives. I had this problem, and for a week I would call them, and coax them to me with a treat, when they came, I gave it to them. After about a week, they would come without one.

Does he do this with everyone?

If he does, he might be suffering hearing loss.

But if this is not the problem, have a treat in your pocket and trick him. But I actually don't like to do that, just an opinion.

Other thing, probably whistle to him, change the whistle in differnt ways. or a clap.
