Don't freak out over it. Haven't you ever noticed that a size 11 by one manufacturer fits right, while a size 11 by another manufacturer is either too big or too little? You should go by what fits, and not by what number is on the tag.
I hope your wedding is wonderful, and I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride.

I'm not sure if it is the same for all wedding dresses, all I know is that I wear a size 8, and I had to buy my dress a size 12, and even then it fits a bit tight. The lady who helped me in the store said that the dress should be about 2 sizes larger than your pant size.

Davids Bridal is the K-Mart of bridal stores. I bought my dress there, and I now REALLY regret it.
I took a size 20 at Davids, and a size 18, size 14, size 16 and size 24 in various other types. All dress makers have a different scale. Just put the "size" in the back of your mind- it's just a number, and noone is going to be talking about the size you take at Davids Bridal on your wedding day. I'm sure you will be beautiful no matter what :)

I know that David Bridal's dresses run small. I usually wear, in pants a size 5-7. For my dress, I had to get a size 10/12, instead of my usual size 8. They're sized differently because of the cuts and styles of the dresses. But don't freak out. No one wil know the size (unless you tell them), and all you need to worry about is what fits good on you and flatters you. If you go smaller, it'll look awkward and will make you look bigger. Example with pants: those younger chubbier girls at the mall who wear pants that are a size or two too small and have the dreaded overhang/muffin top at the waist of the pants. They wouldn't look chubby if they wore the right size.
Good luck with your dress!

Yes most dress are sized different. They have a European cut and you have to go up two dress sizes. If you normally wear an 10 than you need a 14. And I agree do not look at the size you will be a wonderful bride.

Some of them are sized differently. I went to David's Bridal. I wear a size 18 to 20 but I fit in a 16 dress. It depends on the maker and style of the dress. Don't worry about the number. You'll look beautiful no matter what.

I was told to get the size that fits my waist (according to the manufacturer's size chart). I have a more pear shaped body...so I am small up top, I bought my dress according to my bust measurements, though. It's a lace-up closure so this worked for me. I didn't want it to be too big on my breast, and figured if it was too tight in the waist, I would just have to work out on my waist and abs, to tighten it up a bit or loosen the ribboning. The dress fits, almost too perfect, I can not gain an inch. I was just trying to rebel against the fact that they say every wedding dress has to be altered. I am not having any alterations and doing my own bustle.

I didn't think they are that different though. I went to get fitted and usually wear a size 6 and had to get an 8 with alterations. I was like a half an inch too big for the 6.

Don't panic.. for some reason they do run "bigger".. my sis wears a 9/10 jean and her dress measurements were for a size 18.. I wear an 18/20 and measured for a size 28.. No need to panic :)
