No, he won't.

It takes an act of Congress ... not a decision by the President.

Will we see a draft reinstated? I don't believe so. The troops we have around the world are being re-allocated, and that takes some of the pressure off.

Also, the Iraqis are growing each day in the ability to fight their own battles ... and secure their own security. They are also showing greater willingness to do so.

In short ... there is less and less need each day for a draft. More important than that, though, is that our Congress certainly lacks the backbone to re-instate one!

If something isn't going to "buy" votes ... our Congress won't do it!

Learn how the government works. To reinstate the draft as you call it, it takes the implementation of a law. Now, can the President pass laws? No, the President is a member of the Executive branch. A bill has to be submitted to the House or the Senate of Congress, the Legislative branch and then passed by both. The bill then goes to the President to be signed into law or not. So to answer your question, no the President will not reinstate the draft, he doesn't have the legal authority. By the way, in 2004 a bill was presented to both houses of the Congress to initiate the Selective Service System and it failed to pass either house.

Well, why do you think they are "securing our borders" all of a sudden?

Joking. I don't know honestly. We're waaaaaayyy overwhelmed in Iraq and we're having conflicts with both N Korea and Iran. So maybe. I don't think a draft will be reinstated for Iraq only however.

No.

In fact the people who have been introducing draft legislation are all Democrats.

Talk of the draft is nothing more than a scare tactic intended to get foolish people to vote for a particular political party.

no, the war in Iraq is almost over. The main fighting is over. Now all the troops are doing is rebuilding Iraq and helping them get a police force and stuff like that. At this point I believe the worst is over.
