When leaving the hotel room, the AC shuts off, programmed at a much higher temperature than the temp I have it set. The hotel maintenance man came in to override it with some kind of a magnet (long narrow object, somewhat the shape of a ballpoint pen). This method of override last between 24 & 48 hrs. Where can I purchase one of these magnet gadgets, whatever they call it? Or is there a way that I can by-pass the sensor with a jumper wire? Or is there a portable thermostat that I can purchase that will override all the settings on the existing hotel room SensorStat?

Many of the hotels, nationwide, are installing these for their cost savings and making us suffer for it.

This is very frustrating when on vacation, paying big bucks for a room, only to return to your room which is around 78 to 80 degrees. After being out all day in the hot heat, this is the last thing I want.

I took a look at Onity's site and I'm sure, from what I read of their sensors/controllers that you won't be able to do it.

It's a software override, not a mechanical/jumper one, and the device that the hotel man used would be an r.f. one I'm sure.

The manufacturers might be persuaded to sell you one, you can only try.

I do sympathise with you though. I spent many years travelling all over the world and encountered similar infuriating things.
