I keep hearing that you just have to have faith if you want something to come true.

Your faith must be based on fact. Otherwise, it's just wishful thinking.

Too many people have such a broad definition of faith. I've always learned that faith is believing in something that can't be seen. For example, I have faith that there is something after death (call it heaven, hell, the afterlife, whatever you want). This doesn't automatically mean that's it's true. It just means that I believe it's true.

The thing I've come to learn about faith and religion is that if it's truly something you believe in, you're a lot happier. For me, it makes it easier to cope with my problems and it puts things in perspective for me. When I have good things happen in my life, I feel like I want to say thanks by helping other people have better lives too.

Basically, faith is different things to different people, but in my eyes, blind faith isn't the answer. I've had experiences that build my faith and THAT is why I believe in a God. Nobody should base their faith on what others tell them. Go and discover things for yourself. That's the only way to know if faith is something that can work for you.

Obviously you've come across some pretty self-righteous people that think they know all the answers. Every religion has people like that, but it doesn't make the whole organization ignorant.

Faith and truth are NOT THE SAME, truth and fact are different too. Faith means you believe in something that may or may not be proven or true. You can have faith in facts, but there is not always fact in faith and the same applies to truth. People who are weak, or require guidance in their lives will always use religious faiths as a means of support. I have faith that organized religion will never go away, but that is not true, nor is it a fact. It is only my belief.

No. Just a belief in something does not make it correct. It might make it a personal truism but not a fact.

A man may have faith he can fly and jump off the Golden Gate bridge. All the way down, he is sure he's flying. Then he hits the surface and dies. Was he flying? To him, yes. To me, no.

You have a right to believe anything you choose. Only time will tell who was eventually right.

No, life doesn't work that way. If you have faith in God, He will make the best situation for you come true. Otherwise, you would place too much emphasis on winning lotteries, gambling etc. and forget about trusting in Him.

According to your logic if I have faith that 1+2=5 then it does, that is absurd. You like most people on this site only see what they want to see, and then use it to make fun of people and their beliefs.
Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!

The faith you're talking about is called WILL.
the faith religion is speaking about is faith in God that he is able to help you handle all things.
So, try having more faith in God and not in Man OK?

My beliefs do not require other ppl to believe what i believe, therefore, it doesn't matter if you believe you can fly, you ain't no Superman, it doesn't matter if a billion ppl believe that the moon is made of cheese or that it is an ancient Mayan god, it ain't true and it doesn't matter how hard they believed, in the end the looked quite stupid when Man landed on it.
