God, I hate that! And I hated it when I was a little girl, and a Southern Baptist, to boot.

I think it is part of an evil "group-think" mentality, and really counter to Christianity. I think if Christians want to promote the religion, they should make the information readily available, but at the "target's" discretion of time and place.

I am of the Christian Faith and it makes me uncomfortable when a total stranger askes me that... but as one of The Faith I answer.... and then offer to share the Good News with them... you would be supprised how many who ask are not really saved themselves...

I Never ask out of the blue about any thing that personal...that is rude... but if it comes up in conversation I alway confirm that I am... And I do... at the proper time in a relationship with someone... offer to share my Good News.. If they decline I just continue with the other aspects of the relationship if it is appropriate.

Thats a person wanting to do good but not knowing how. Heck it makes me uncomfortable and I am saved. If a stranger comes on like that its kind of scary, but they probably are doing their best to be obedient to God. Next time just tell them how you feel. Say "Dude, I'm a little intimidated by the way your approaching me, I don't even know you." and ask them to explain what "saved" means. Its usually best to get to know somebody before you rush in with biblical overtones like that. The best way to introduce somebody to God is by living the life, observing, and instead of generic "are you saved" stuff make it real and personal, tell about yourself and what Jesus has done for you. I don't think He wants people hammered into the ground about him or he would just use his godly power and force people to come to him. Its gotta be a choice. That means we can say yes or no. Remember Jesus loves you man, even if you don't know or acknowledge Him, He wants the best for you.

I don't get uncomfortable. But I worry that the person asking is perhaps too comfortable We cannot presume to be saved.

no. it's natural to feel uncomfortable when someone asks you a personal question, especially when they want an answer that is different from the actual truth. honestly, there's nothing to be saved from, so it's a loaded question.

Yeah...I'm Christian and I think that's a very rude question. Why is it anyone's business? What are they going to do about it if I'm not? I have never walked up to someone I don't know very well and interrogated them about their spirituality out of the blue like some people do.

Why do people do that??!!

I do not feel uncomfortable when someone asks that question. It is written "believe on the name Jesus and thou shall be saved". God is not a liar.

I don't feel uncomfortable. I just feel the question is inappropriate. It is none of their business. How do they know for sure that they have been saved?

it is a personal question and a private issue. it makes sense to feel uncomfortable when someone approaches you and asks. also because that person is probably some stranger. if some stranger came to me and asked me about my sex life, i would feel uncomfortable.
