8 weeks is uh....56 days (sorry had to take off my shoes to do the math ;)

And average gestation period for a kitty is about 63 days.

So yes, I'd think you should be able to tell since if she is preggers, she'll be delivering any day now.

It would be great if you could at least call her vet to ask about what to expect and how to care for her now and after delivery.

It is important not to push and poke around on her belly if you think she is preggers. But....as you are gently patting her, you might notice that she is large in the belly area and that this largeness has sort of (multiple) bumps in it. Again, I repeat, please please please do not push and poke. You'd think this doesn't need saying, but I've known some really special people in my life. So I'm saying it.

If your cat went into heat and you know for a fact she mated with a tomcat, she is pregnant. Female cats do not ovulate until they have mated, pretty much insuring that a mating session ends up with a successful pregnancy.

However, if you think she's 8 weeks along she would be clearly showing by now and almost ready to give birth. Is her stomach bulging?

Feel her stomach on each side - if you feeel lumps, those are kittens. Also try to look at her stomach as she is laying down on her side or back - you'll be able to see her nipples because they'd be swollen (if that's not possible try to feel for them). If she is pregnant she'll be due in a week or two.

A good way to tell is to hold your hand on her belly for a few minutes and feel if anything moves. That is how I have always been able to tell with my cats, even when they don't look too pregnant.

DANG IT! She told me she was on the pill! ;p

You should probably be able to tell by now. Cats are usually only pregnant for about 2 months. SO... If she has kittens in the next week or so, she was pregnant! :D

Does she look any fatter? I'm not sure if you can tell at that point, try pressing very gently on her belly to see if you feel bumps(the kittens), that's how I could tell when my cat was pregnant.

your kitten is only 8 wks! She is not pregnant. Do you want her to be? Call your vet, although I'm sure you already thought of that.

yes, you should be able to see her belly getting bigger and in a little while you should be able to feel the kittens enough to count how many there are.
