The Columbia River in Washington state has some huge walleyes and its fairly close to where you live. Walleye fishing is always great right below damns. Try using live shad for bait on any number of different style bottom bouncing rigs. The walleye is a member of the pike family.

Lake of the Woods in Northern Part of Minnesota is the walleye mecca. Been fishing it for 14 years and never been skunked. You will find the most and biggest walleyes on L.O.W. in the Rainy River in the spring, ice out, cause thet begin to spawn. There are monsters in the lake. Beyond a shadow of a doubt the new Minnesota record will come from that lake. I have also caught HUGE walleyes on Big Sand in Minnesota. Not many, but when they bit they were monsters.

It is not related to the bass and has some teeth . You'll need to travel to northern states and fish mainly out of a boat. Crank baits work well with larger wally's and jigging with live or dead minnows. In the spring troll very slowly in the center where it is deepest in rivers and reservoirs and crank bait for the big females before spawn. After spawn forget about them until next year..

Northern WI is a good place to catch 'em. It's also beautiful there this time of year.

I would agree with Brewmaster (and nice name there too). You could try Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota or Canada.
