Does anybody have a idea of taming a young parakeet?

I answered almost the exact same question a week ago. Here is my answer to that question...it was chosen as the best by the asker who said it seemed to work for her. I also gave this same answer to someone asking about her cockatiel and she also choose it as the best answer. It helped them and I really hope it can help you as well. Birds are such wonderful creatures and budgies can be very sweet when they are tame. Best of luck!

One thing about birds is that they choose who they will like and who they wont. Your parakeet sounds like he isn't very hand tame, but that is fixable.

Start by (only if his wings are clipped. I cannot stress how important it is for his wings to be clipped) opening his cage and finding a small stick that is the same size as his perch. Make it just long enough so that it isn't very close to your hand. Now, if he is running away and flopping around his cage give him time. Let him get used to the stick. When he is calm, use the stick the same way you would your finger to have him step up...Press it gently into his lower chest and tell him to 'Step up.' with a gentle but serious tone. He may not yet understand the words, but he will step up becuase you are pushing on his chest. Once he steps onto the stick don't pull him out of the cage. Simply praise and reward him with his favorite treat. Be ready to offer praise and the treat immediatly. If you wait he will assume he is being rewarded for something other than stepping up. Imagine he is like Dory from Finding Nemo. If you don't reward him right away he will think he is getting it for nothing or for turning his head a certain direction or something.

That is the first step to helping your bird become hand tammed. Keep trying this for a few minutes (15 or so and when he is hungry so he will actually want the treat). After a few days try to replace the stick with your hand (no glove!). Follow the same ritual and once again do not try to remove him from the cage. Just let him step on your hand. If he runs away try the stick again, then your hand. Try to show him that they are one and the same. It may take some time, but he will eventually realize that when he steps up on your hand he receives a treat and a lot of praise. He will soon be dying to step up on your hand.

Once he reaches this stage you can begin to take him out of the cage (once again offering praise and a treat for good behavior).

Good luck!

what do you mean, do you not want it to bite?
There are things you can buy that they peck on (they are called cuttlebones), they are shaped like surfboards and attach to the side of the cage, they wont bite.

If you are gonna hold it, let it perch on your finger, if you grasp it with a fist, it will be extremely hurt

ps, put newspaper at the bottom of the cage, or else it will be a mess

Just by holding him and hand feeding him let him get used to your hands. Never scare him or hurt him so that he learns to trust you. Basicly just try to bond with him.
